sheer heart attack isn't bad taste!
jazz is half-and-half taste-wise. fun it is pretty bad taste, i'm not sure if even my taste is that bad...and fat bottomed girls, while not "poor taste" per se, is rather "tasteless," from a thematic perspective. i love it, so i guess i both have poor taste and am tasteless.
hey, body language anyone? first time i heard it, i hated it, now i confess to putting the music video on constant replay...
I haven't got taste... how do I know what Sheer Heart Attack counts as ?!

I know it IS liked by the "very selective tastes" crowd.

Some people would say that liking Queen AT ALL is poor taste...

Oh, I also think Freddie was hilarious - and I've heard his jokes were supposed to be tasteless.

There we go. No taste. Some day, I'll bring you all down to my level, and our brains will all rot together. But so far, my friends still tell me I've not got good taste since I don't think Orlando Bloom is "hot".
fuck it, I like it all. And im not a stepford fan. I just happen to love it all.

he's hot until he opens his mouth and "acts".

here's my album-by-album rundown on tastefulness.

queen-excellent taste
queen ii-good taste
sha-great taste
anato-stunningly quality taste
adatr-people say it's very bad taste, but i say ridiculously amazing taste.
notw-mostly bad taste, but so damn catchy no one can help but love it
jazz-half and half
the game-decent taste
flash gordon-reeely reeely bad taste
hot space-ridiculously awful taste
the works-questionable taste
akom-bad, bad taste
the miracle-not terribly good taste
innuendo-grand taste!

notice this is about tastefulness, not tastiness! tastiness would be much different. i give all albums an eleven("it goes to eleven!!")!

You're only 17, eh? That means you have grown up in an era when liking Queen was reasonably OK. You should have been around in the Eighties :-)
In those days if I knew I would be having visitors, I'd hide my Queen-records in the attic!
They day after the first showing of the Break Free video I was afraid to go to work.

Queen appear to be a lot more accepted these days, unfortunately since Freddie died.
Hot Space...I just think that it is the most UNDERESTIMATED album EVER! Truly..it is a work of genious. ALL HAIL HOT SPACE!

Tsc, tsc, now why would you hide your Queen records? You should be proud of your bad taste. Spread it out for all to see! You know why? Because YOU CAN'T HIDE WHAT'S INSIDE.

That may be sound advice NOW but in the Eighties you couldn't just have bad taste, because everyone else already had!

Seriously, Queen have gathered a lot more of so called street credibility since those days. So have bands like Abba and the like. I still resent the fact that Freddie's death was probably the main cause for this.

Well, my reasons for writing the Queen-being-poor-taste thing was because I've read a few "Queen is for people too stupid to like <insert "smart" band name here>" essay/articles.

But, speaking of people in general, I think the MANNER of Freddie's death is the exact reason why the people in my area seem to dislike Queen. Now, I don't want to turn this thread into one of THOSE "people at my school think Queen is crap" threads ! But the truth here is that if anything is connected to "gay stuff", you will take crap publicly for it (you never get as far as, "Well, have you ever actually listened to their music ?" or "You do realise they wrote <song name>, right ?"). I've heard it was worse in the 80's, but I live in a "small rural community", so we're still stuck back a few decades...

ON A HAPPIER NOTE : Yey poor taste !

"Once you can accept the universe as matter expanding into nothing that is something, wearing stripes with plaid comes easy." - Albert Einstein.
do you guys read george starostin's reviews? here's an exerpt from the queen one:

"The final verdict will be painful for you if you're an intelligent Queen fan, but alas, it is based on reality: Queen are especially attractive for the 'pseudo-intellectual' music fans, that is, the kind of dudes who are way too slow, close-minded and poor-educated to recognize really timeless music like Genesis, King Crimson, or Jethro Tull, but which are quick to jump on the Queen bandwagon because... because, after all, the music of Queen is quite suitable for those people."

of course, a million queen fans wrote in and he eventually decided he was being too harsh...but it does illustrate the perspective that audacity cited...i actually enjoy his reviews, even though i don't always(usually) agree!:)
to be truthful, most people at my (former) school don't even know who freddie is, much less that he was gay...they're just like, "queen? like, bohemian rhapsody? AW, ROCKZORS!!!!"
it's a rudimentary kind of respect, but it's still respect:)

One of their better, more balanced albums. Bravo to your taste
I like all three of these albums - they all have some great songs on them

Hot Space:

Dancer - cool 80's groove
Life Is Real - Nice sentiment
Las Palabras De Amor - I'm not gay, but the sweetness in Freddie's voice on this one...I woulda let him.
Cool Cat - Freddie falsetto - mahhvelous!
Under Pressure - Great song, plain and simple

The Works - how can anyone say this wasn't a great album??? With the exception of Passing the Open Windows, every song on this album rocks!

The Miracle - Come on! Okay, so My Baby Does Me and Hang On In There were weak, and Chinese Torture is a downright nasty gag, but the rest of this album is first-rate.
Thank you, God bless you, sweet dreams you lot of tarts, Good-bye!
