Mikahl don't start useless discussion for the God's sake! When someone will be daily "download" your money from your purse - we'd back to this thread and then discuss, okay?
Downloading is not illegal here in Holland, so you can't just say that people are thieves!

Besides, downloading isn't thieving at all. When downloading the owner does not loose the item, it's still in his posession. When I'm not going to buy the music, they don't get my money anyway. Like I have the album, CD and DVD of "A Night at the Opera", I sure ain't buying the remastered 30th ann. edition also. I have a 1000 CD's and 250 DVD's, I only buy what I realy want, I download the rest. They got enough money from me! Copyright Infringement is the term, I believe.

And I realy hate the fact that most albums I bought on CD have crapy sound and are replaced by better sounding remastered editions.
I'm sorry I honestly don't understand what you're trying to say Serry, but the discussion of downloading official materials is indeed useless. It's like politics, abortion, circumcision. These discussions get nowhere.

Smart artists allow for free trading of their stuff once a copy has been purchased. There's a big difference between free and for profit.

The world went on for years with people putting a copy of an album on a cassette for their friends, making "mix tapes" for their girlfriends, loaning albums to each other, listening to the radio, watching music videos.. all of these could just as easily be said to diminish sales.

But I'll shut up about that whole subject. I've said what I feel though there's so much more that could be said. It'll have to be argued in court instead. I just hope I get my chance someday. I'll bring my receipts. :)

Sometimes I think that communism is still alive... "They're rich! Lost of 5$ won't make them poor guys! Who cares?!"... I've already heard it somewhere... In Soviet Union...

"The recording and artwork are protected by copyright laws. Using Internet services to distribute copyrighted music, giving away illegal copies of discs or lending discs to others for them to copy is illegal. By carrying out any of these actions it has the same effect as stealing music. Applicable laws provide severe civil and criminal penalties for the unathorized reproduction, distribution and digital transmission of copyrighted sound recordings."

P.S. Dura lex sed lex
It's a shame that a Queen fan downloads Queen or Queen-related albums, which are released officially. For a try-out? Ah, c'mon.
John: "It's the one thing I wish I could do - sing."
I don't download many things at all. I was just wondering what people thought about that site. It would be hard for a blind person to use the computer and find out that a code is a picture. I'm not trying to steal even if I downloaded something.
Sorry for hating me!

paul mccartney has a feature on his website that allows you to download music directly(for a price, of course)...but since brian's solo material isn't available on itunes, it might be nice if he did something like that. besides, if it were easy enough, it might encourage fans to download legally instead.
this downloading thing is a tough issue. it's one thing to download something and then buy it later for the better sound, but the vast majority of downloaders don't care about sound quality, they're just looking for free music. and no matter how much you preach about the morality of it, the fact is that if people CAN download music easily and for free, they will. and record companies will still lose money. so it's better to start thinking of practical solutions for this...like the approach queen took to bootlegs, which was perfectly ingenious...i know one band(can't remember the name) offered their new album for free on their own website, as a sampler, and then put bonus tracks on the cd. i don't know if it worked or not.

Their music, which you freely download, is their intellectual property. It is not yours to take without fair compensation. Legally they do lose but the courts still haven't caught up to technology and aren't likely to.
I'm on the fence about downloading. There's too much overpriced bad music. Downloading is one way to fight back but it also limits development of new music/artists.
Download what you want Jackie, it's your choice.

I personally buy all of Queen's albums. But if it's too expensive or too hard to find because in some areas/countrys it is, then I would understand. :)
you donkey butts! the albums are cheap go out and buy them Or i'm going to have to report you to FBI or the CIA
i have never seen any of brian may's solo albums in an american record store, not even the independent ones. there's just not a lot of demand. so they CAN be hard to get a hold of. that said, you could always order them off of queenonline or amazon...

Gee that's very strange because i saw Brian's Another World in WalMart just 2 days ago, and even they fill their shelves with Queen cd's & dvd's, i also go to alot of Record stores in my area, they have Brian, & Freddie's solo cd's, just the more newer ones, but they are clearly out there. I think that it is a sad day when you have to get an album for free instead of buying it, even if it isn't illegal in Holland or other countries doesn't mean that is it moral.
I have purchased over 500 cd's and over 2000 dvd's and i have not 1 stolen or pirated cd or dvd in my collection. So i don't understand the reason why someone has to steal these artists money. They work very hard for that, it is their career and the way they make their earnings, imagine if some people decided to steal $5 or $10 from your earnings here and there! You wouldn't like that now would you?
Hello you rock and rollers!
..or ebay. Seriously, there is no longer any country in the world where it is "impossible to buy" any Queen/solo album.

Furthermore, blindness is irrelevant to the discussion this has turned into. Downloading material without paying for it is illegal in most countries, and unfair on the artist in ALL countries. While I would agree that downloading something on a trial basis does occur, and can be argued to be a sensible process given the cost of music these days, I would also say that such activity is only valid once per band. Once you know you like a band, you're more likely to "trust" their new album. Also, to go to a site populated by other afficianados of said group and publicise your lack of support for the band is (excuse the term) short-sighted.

well, that's great that the stores in your area are so broad, but it isn't like that everywhere. i've tried barnes and noble, borders, target, the silver platter, tower records...but i never even see freddie, brian or roger's name. i'm just saying i understand the temptation to just download it, though i agree it's wrong. stealing used to be harder than buying something, but it isn't anymore...that's the problem.

one word, EBAY! I bought cd's when they were like $40! Back in those days when they were expensive, they are no longer expensive! I didn't steal them, even though i was in Junior HS and HS, i didn't have much money to spend, just from my summer jobs, but i would ever steal material. People are running out of excuses now days. Ebay is huge and you can get these cd's very cheap on there. Plus there are tons of online record stores that stock these.
