Define Grunge....

Someone told me this:

"I think that grunge is like....

50% punk
35% metal
15% classic rock

musicwise at least"

and trace amounts of urine.

Grunge =

40% unwashed laundry.
40% unwashed hair.
10% random dirt and bacteria.
5% upset teenagers.
4% too much free time.
1% unwashed musical instruments.

Grunge. It's like if you took a "Punk Rocker", rolled him in the mud, and robbed him of his spirit to really do something horrid to piss people off.

Well. there is certainly an image that goes with grunge, but it's more the music that matters. In fact, the only grunge band I really like is Nirvana, with few exceptions. I personally just (hate to stereotype) think of angry Gen-X teens, thrash and burn, and KC. I personally agree with and like a few of those things, and the leftovers, not so much. Although, these are mostly negatives on grunge, and there are plenty of positives.
Also, gruge isn't crap, it's music, and unless it is made by cheap always-been-sold-out jerks, it's going to be self expression. I liked seeing everybody's opinions on the genre, and I may not agree with all of them, but I sure respect them.
By the way, if you think I hate grunge, I really don't know much about it. Above is basically the extent of my knowledge and opinions on the matter, but I know that there is alot more than what has been posted on this topic.

I'd have to say, something that some people try too hard to be. But the music can be pretty good, example...well...Nirvana.
