I have a visitor in my backyard. She's been there for a few weeks now. Here she is...

She is a Yellow and Black Argiope. She was HUGE but she's slimmed down now. Here's why....

That is her egg sac. Next spring I'll have 100s of her in my yard eating all my nasty grasshoppers that ruin my grass.

Ain't she perrrtty? I just wish the pics were clearer. I do not have a steady hand.

;)

I'm just scared of spiders :P.

Really I have aracnophobia like in the movie, but with all kinds of aracnyds (Correct me please), specially with spiders and scorpions

Oh god. That made me cry...and I'm serious. I have a terrible case of arachnophobia. ;_;...I don't even think she's pretty...because I didn't take a good look. I got scared so much that I went through an attack. ;_;
AHHHHH!

Er...I dont share your taste.

Ever since 50 baby spiders crawled out my light fixture i've uh, sorta been afraid of spiders.

But whatever floats your boat.
!!

"Yellow and Black Argiope" !

THAT'S what was living on my dad's window.

We couldn't figure out what it was.

Thanks !

I don't mind that as much as I do the little furry spiders... those are scary. This one was pretty docile and just sat there.
Awww, how cute! The bigger the better! ;D

I am completely fine with spiders as long as they don't come inside my house. This gal is outside so I am ok to let her stay. I also like that she has all but gotten rid of my grasshopper problem. I live in a house that is only a year old so the ground has just been turned over and the bugs in the yard are all over...well they used to be until my little friend came to my yard!! My grass looks ten times better now that she is here.

We used to have TONS of those in the backyard at my old house... My stepmom is terrified of spiders, so my brother and I would gently remove them from their webs and let them crawl all over our arms and show her. It was so funny to see how she'd freak, lol.

Our family lost our beloved spider, probably from a rain deluge last week. During the day she lived under our outdoor garage light between the light frame and the house siding. But at night we would leave the light on for her to attract the bugs.

She was so cute scurrying over to pounce on poor defenceless blood-sucking, West Nile virus infested misquitoes. If only Charlotte were a little bigger she could have helped with our neighborhood's Canadian "rats with wings" geese infestation.

I am entirely unsure of what species of spider she was, but she was big and brown with 1/2" body and 1" diameter including the legs. I hope she is still eating misquitoes, but, if not, may she rest in peace. Shiff, sniff - pass the Kleenex please.
