True, but doing that assumes that you have the exact same version he has... which sometimes may not be the case.

That list is completely useless, because it doesn't say which particular version of each show the ratings are referring to. For most of those shows there are several versions in circulation, often sourced from different gen tapes. It has been common in the Queen scene to exclusively use sound quality ratings to identify a certain version of a show, which is obviously a very stupid thing to do, because quality ratings are, as opposed to lineage information, completely subjective.
Maybe you can share Q+PR Lisbon 2nd July 2005.
Fantastic show.

Amen. Can't add anything to that.

If this list is completely useless, surely someone could name at least 10 concerts that do not belong on this top 100 list, and name at least 10 substitute concerts (with Freddie).

The problem with your list is that it assumes that all recordings of each show are the exact same, and that everyone listened to that exact same recording. Bootleg recordings are far more complicated than that.

I can do the first half of your request, but I'll do the opposite. Here are the only shows that should be on this list (should such a list with minimal criteria exist), simply because there are multiple recordings and versions of all the other shows:

All other Queen recordings have at least one more source for that show, or are known to exist in different generations of tape. These recordings I've listed are ones that have only stemmed out of a single source - and note that most of them are from a single silver release or an old LP bootleg, and haven't been altered (that I'm aware of, anyway).

Check out this page of my website. It lays out all the recordings I know of, and how complicated it all is. I haven't updated in a couple months, but it's still a good idea of everything:

If you're going to make a list of the best recordings, you'll need to differentiate the recordings better. Simply listing a date and venue does not provide enough information to uniquely identify a recording. This is why we should distribute recordings with lineage information. Date, venue, tape generation, silver release info (if applicable), and even equipment used to transfer the recording should all figure into a recording's identification. This is how we should take care of our recordings, and how we can be exactly sure of which recording is which.

Okay, you separated the multi-source shows from the single-source shows. But there's still a little ways to go.

I did? That was not my intent. All I did was list the best 45 "consensus" EX- or better sound quality boots and contrasted it with your list, but I did not get a chance to finish my post.

I feel that creating a top 19 list of single source boots is too limiting. It overlooks other potentially better boots. Also, about half of your 19 picks are very good boots, but not good enough to be in a top 20 list of best Queen boots.

Yes, many shows have multiple sources. However, it is usually not difficult to find a bootleg in quality near the best available. In my case, it sometimes took me 3 or more tries to get a bootleg in decent quality. I have only failed to find a decent version on 2% of the concerts in my top 100 list.
