Yes it is sad. I think you, Caspie, would have a better life on another planet.

My first car was a blue Mk1 Ford Escort - it was a piece of shit but I only paid £90 for it.

Thomas;
I assume you still use public transport? Would you ever take a trip on a plane anywhere? I'm not taking the piss, I'm interested to know how strong your beliefs are.
I personally think alot more people should use public transport. I live in the suburbs of Belfast and get the bus to and from work every day. The bus takes me to the city centre and a 15 minute walk gets me to work.
As I stand waiting for my bus (which is never too long as there is one every 15 mins), I see people crawling along in the traffic in their cars, with the vast majority of cars only having one person in it. It will take them longer to get to work, as there is a designated bus lane, and once they get into the city centre, alot of them will have to pay for parking which costs many times more per day than the price of a bus ticket anyway! And of course, its all having a negative effect on the environment.
In an ideal world, I would like to be able to cycle to work, but I'm not brave enough to take my chances with the traffic on a bicycle!

There is only one bus, in my suburb of Sheffield, that goes to my place of work and it goes all round the houses - so a 10 minute trip in a car takes about 45mins. Public transport is also quite expensive up here.
Also, by driving my car, I don't have to share a trip with strange people who want to talk to me, noisy kids, drunks, druggies and old people complaining about the weather.
Public transport - I shit it.
