Got back from Cuba a couple of days ago, and I spent a lot of time with this book on the beach.
I really enjoyed it! I found myself reading the album information, then reading about the tours for that album and using the song discography as a reference for the songs I really like (or dislike) and for short reading.
There is a LOT of information here. A lot of stuff that I didn't know. I likey very very much! It seems well researched and in many ways facinating.
I'll add though that it also kinda made me sad to think that it's over. Reading the book seemed to me like reading a history text instead of current information. No fault of the book at all, just an observation that I miss being able to read about what Queen are up to TODAY! To me, the classic Queen ended at the FM Tribute and everything since has been a postscript.
The one quibble I have has to do with opinion versus fact. I don't know how to solve it, or even if it's a real problem, but I found that sometimes information slipped from fact-based to opinion-based. This was especially obvious when discussing alternative tracks that were recorded for the albums and the author's opinion about what the track-list *should* have been. This is the type of opinion that instigates debate here on Queenzone with strong opinions for and against, but putting in print in a reference book makes it seem as *fact*.
Anyways, if I wrote a book I'd probably do the same thing, after all it *is* your book. :)

Started reading the foreword and I was pleased that this book was not written at a kindergarten level. It's about time I read an intelligent book on Queen that knows how to turn a phrase.

Finished the book last night - a brilliant informative read which you can use as a reference tool or simply to immerse yourself in the history of the worlds greatest band.

Easily the best Queen info book I own. Great job Lester....
Great work, Lester. Got mine earlier this week. What I like the best about it is that it actually expresses some opinions -- "Coming Soon" is not the greatest Queen song, etc. -- and you put together all of those famous quotes Queen maniacs have read over and over again and combine them with others that are not-so-famous and over-used. I especially like the guest spot chapter -- there's a couple of Roger-guested things I keep reminding myself to get, and this book will help me jot things off on the list.
Off to get that Al Stewart album Roger is on (WTF?)!
