If they want to make a decent movie of 2h30-3h máx, they´ll have to choose a time in Freddie´s live that´s worth the effort. If it isn´t about Queen then probably they will stick with his last five years. This way they will only need one actor to play the role.
I mean, Johny Depp is great but he can´t play the young Freddie. It´s going to be a difficult task, because Freddie doesn´t look like anyone else. And they must choose an Indian guy or at least someone with those eastern characteristics!
I would rather have a Queen film, just concentrated on the band and their music, like the Doors movie.
Take care

I don't see why it's of such a concern that the actor is a Freddie clone...
I would take a good actor over a look-alike, any day. Freddie himself had different "looks". A good actor should be able to "convince" me that he's Freddie - even if the match isn't spot-on.
I don't mean that someone who looks TOTALLY different could do it... But if it was between a Freddie-clone and a good actor who looked similar, I would rather give the actor a chance and see what the magic of make-up could do for whatever was "lacking" in the visual element.

I'm well aware that without Freddie we wouldn't have Queen et cetera but I often feel that the other members are considered 'nobodys' by the music gurus who aren't necessarily die-hard Queen fans. And do we really want ANOTHER account of his life, drugs/sex/gay sex/dwarves/AIDS/etc. I do admit that all that in a film form would be interesting, much more interesting than a film about John's life, but still I'm fed-up of all these accounts of Freddie's life who mention Brian and Roger in passing (they don't even mention John) as if they didn't matter. Freddie wouldn't have made it if it weren't for the other three eitherand they were together for well over twenty years for Chrissakes! I think the parts of Brian, Roger and John should be deeper than 'Freddie formed Queen with two/three friends' and then into the scandalous side of Freddie's life.
I'd prefer a 'Queen' film rather than just a 'Freddie' film. They were a band of four strong-willed guys and I wish the entertainment idustry would see that![/QUOTE] judging by people's comments about this film leads me to believe you all havn't read the story. The article say's " A Queen tribute movie is in the pipeline" not only a freddie movie. Of course their going to bring up the aids issue, it was a big part of Queen history, but if it's gonna be good they must make a movie over two hours and concrete on all of 1971 to 1995. Johnny Depp is a great choice to play freddie. That all he needs to do is put a wig on for the young freddie, then grow a mustache for the 80's. I'm actually very excited about this, brian and roger will make sure it's done right, and think about all the possible hits that could come out it. The doors became bigger than ever after that "doors" movie.

Paul Rodgers could play Freddie...
and I could play Barry Sheffield...
Who would play Freddie's cousin, Barry Bulsara?

I have mixed feelings about this - it could be good, and yet it could be awful. I just hope they focus on the REAL Freddie - not his stage persona. This movie could be great, and I hope it is. But this movie could also be horrible and make me cringe in my seat from the horror of what they've done. But even if it's awful, it will probably still have Queen songs in it - at least I'll go away singing a tune I love :-)
As for who to act him, Johnny Depp would be pretty good... but I don't know if anyoine (even Depp) could capture, you know, FREDDIE.
So all we can do is cross our fingers - and hope.

O.K, lets look at something extremly important!
Who is DIRECTING this film? It's all well and good to concern one's self with actors (we all know that only someone like Depp could pull it of) but the director is highly important.
It would have to be someone with an artistic mind because that was Freddie's greatest asset, his art!
Perhaps someone like Peter Weir(The Witness, Rabbit Proof Fence) Gore Verbinski(Pirates of the Caribean, experience with Depp), and perhaps Cameron Crowe, who directed 'Almost Famous'. Directors at the end of the day make the final edit that decides whether or not an actors performance gets through and ultimatley whether or not Freddie is portrayed well or not. However I agree that the whole band should be covered, because those four are all brilliant musicians (Brian is easily in the top five best guitarists of all time, and I may be biast but I trully believe that he's the best). And when the four were together, the best songs were produced.
As far as actors go, if the director and casting agent are clever they will go for Depp, or someone very simmaler. Keep in ones mind, if the the director and casting agent aren't so good, then someone like Jude Law (he's got talent but he ain't no Freddie) may be selected.
Lets have faith in the movie world, and hope they do our beloved Freddie justice,
Take Care all...
