I got very excited about the movie. However if Depp gets to play Freddie I'll commit a suicide in a very brutal way!

I'd like Mr. Bad Guy to be played by Antonio Banderas. He sings too.

I'm trying to think of someone other than Johnny Depp for Freddie, but nothing comes to mind right away. As far as the other three members, I hope they cast relatively unknown English actors and not Americans (I'm American) if only because it may be best if "unknowns" play the other parts. With the right director, and the other three's imput, the can "get it right". If you have a star play, say Brian, you know he'll try to put his own spin on it, instead of the way it was. Too bad Anthony Hopkins wasn't 30 years younger-he could've played Norman Sheffield? Also, to play a young Freddie, maybe Wilder Valderama from "That 70's Show?http://www.that70sshow.com/index_gallery.htm

I think Jonny Depp would fit only for acting Freddie Mercury before his death in Innuendo period, and just as I'm going slightly mad character, otherwise I dont see much similarities between them. I would prefer Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie, even his latest character Borat is much or less similar to Freddie's look. Even Borat himself admited that his image is based on Freddie's imagine and look. On the other hand, some people could think that this is another Borat film:}

And what about the live concerts?
Do you think the movie should be intercallated with the real Queen footage. For example Live Aid?
Or you think that the actors should try to do the live thing as well?

A little bonus at the end of the film with some real footage from the band playing live seems a good idea to me.

I can't picture Depp as Freddie at all. Then again, he is Johnny Depp so who knows...

However gang, I have for you the one and only choice for Freddie Mercury that I have ever come across.

GAEL GARCIA BERNAL! I guarantee you he would NAIL IT!!!! He'd win an oscar in just as "case closed" a decision as Jamie Foxx's oscar win was when he played Ray Charles two years ago.

As for everyone else, I would maybe do something like:

Ryan Phillipe as Roger Taylor
Edward Norton or Geoffrey Rush as John Deacon
Josh Hartnett as Brian May(weak I know, but I can't think of anyone else)

and a couple of supporting characters

Phyllip Seymour Hoffman as Roy Thomas Baker
Gwyneth Paltrow as Mary Austin
Ray Winstone(actor from Sexy Beast and The Departed) as Freddie's last lover(Jim something?)


Oddly enough, the one actor that seems to me to be the best/closest choice in accurately depicting the character played is Gael Garcia Bernal as Freddie.

Also, I am pretty sure this rumour is crap because I have heard Brian comment on a Queen movie saying that it would be great, but probably shouldn't be done until the three living members each bite the dust.


And lastly, I should direct it! Hey, I have a film degree and a pretty good short film(will be shooting my 2nd short next year). Why me? Because I would give it the love and care it deserves and treat it as my life's work. Maybe I am full of crap, but one thing I can promise is that I could make a Queen film that's way better than whatever sucky director puked out that Def Leppard movie VH1 made a few years ago.
