Once upon a time, people decided that they weren't going to "stand for" homosexuality. It still happens. Once upon a time, they also decided not to stand for alcohol consumption - that didn't work out either.
I do not "stand" for things such as like malnutrition, procreation, bad hair days, venereal diseases, or bad 80's musicals, but I don't deny their existence.
