That doesn't make sense. Why remove the tracks that would make non-fans look at it with some interest. It can't just sit as a fan interest product.

No, I'm NOT comparing Queen with Nirvana. I Just had a sugestion that they should release a simular singlebox that they did.
With the old LP-singles transfered to CD-singles. And I also said that Queen has about 50 singles or so, so they can release like 5 boxes with 10 singles each.
The single-feeling dissaper when all the songs are on CD's (albums).

You may have a point, but i don´t believe that a 10 CD box set is going to appeal any non-Queen fan. Non-Queen fans already have the Platinium Collection if they want to start somwhere.
I think this is indeed for Queen die-hard fans. Can you imagine the price of that?
This is not for the masses, but of course there will be a trick or two to try to sell this.
HAving said this, and to be honest i don´t think that adding "We are the Champions" or "We Will rock you" will make this boxes sell more. If non-Queen fans want to hear this songs they will buy the Hits.
Now, the fans already have this songs, so, in their minds (at least in my mind) the hits are just a waist of precious space that could be used for the real rare remixes that are going to be left out of it!
I have nothing against the hits make it to the box, but since there isn´t enough space i really think that the "normal" A-sides are not going to increase the Box real value (wich whether we like it or not it´s a collector value). On the other hand, the "You don´t fool me" and "Under Pressure" remixes are the ones fans will look for in the future.

Sorry, but I disagree. As many times as I've heard WWRY or WATC or Bo Rhap, to not include them in a singles box set would be absurd. Besides, I can almost guarantee - and this is on the basis that I have no insider knowledge whatsoever, but that I know QPL - that every major single release will be on there.
If you look at all of the box set single releases that other bands - The Rolling Stones, The Who, Elvis Costello, Elvis Presley, etc. - have put out, all their big hits, all their minor hits, all their failures, all their B-sides are on there. Even a song that Elvis Costello apparently hates and would never put on any other compilation ('Party Party', for anyone who cares) appears on his singles box set for the sake of completeness.
Quite frankly, if QPL excise any of the B-sides or single edits solely because Brian or Roger didn't like them, then it would be absolutely stupid - for the same reason that omitting any of the major hits would be equally foolish.

I'd have to at least partially disagree with that....I have heard both of those, and I would agree the Liar edit is horrendous, but the edit of It's Late I thought was quite good.....not better than the original, of course....but not bad for a single edit!

I for one do not know but I thought that I understood that any tracks that were the same from the original studio l.p. which I think I understood as the "A-sides" that were already available elsewhere...would NOT be included in the singles box. I hope that they are not frankly as well as it appears they have enough material to not use those tracks again.
ITSM I think what you are mentioning for a format would work great in the years or a number of decades to come. By then they could make each single be a blu-ray disc or whatever format being used down the road and include a short promotional film and maybe another thing or two with whatever tracks go with the respective single.

hi everyone. just joined so i could add my opinion on the singles box set. i'm amazed so many of you were confused at the end of last year. i spotted this on hmv's website in nov 2006. obviously it's a 10 cd box set with first 10 singles/ hit singles. so will keep yourself alive be included? i hope so. obviously all singles will be included after that at least, regardless of how many times we all own them already. the tracks will be a sides, b sides and maybe demo versions but probably not. so between 2 and however many tracks on each disc, with original artwork. this has been done many times before (clash, madness, stranglers, rolling stones, nirvana, blondie etc). the site still states monday for release but queen's official website does not mention the release at all. so basically it won't be making march either. no surprise there then! i think hmv stick it on the site and just don't bother updating it. lazy! it doesn't state it as volume 1 but if it ever sees light of day then maybe a volume 2, 3 and 4 will follow. obviously only a later box will include y.d.f.m. and not this first set. don't hold your breath for anything though. i'm still waiting for the Madness singles box set 2 which was due to coincide with their 25th anniversary. that was 2004 of course. and there was a planned madonna box set for her 20th anniversary (2003) but that never emerged either. what's up with bloody record companies? useless the lot of them. the greatest hits dvd's are piss poor too. why are videos missing all over the place?
I had an email last week cancelling my order, stating it was no longer going to be released as scheduled. No surprise really. A 10 Cd Box for £13.99 was always dubious, and if it looks too good to be true, it usually is. The website now states:-

HMV are famous for cancelling orders or not fulfilling them. Especially when they get the price wrong.
