Hey Sir GH,

I just wanted to say CONGRATS! What an amazing accomplishment!! and yes, I'm drowning in jealousy :P

How did you find out about the auditions?

Very simple... I emailed Brian when news about the musical first hit the media, and told him I knew my stuff. He got back to me, and said he'd make sure I got an audition. I'm honestly surprised that I'm the only person who got an audition like this.

Thanks Jasen! Is there any chance you could make the trip to see a show?

How many here are planning to see Bob on opening night? Is anybody from the DC/Baltimore area? Do Americans need a passport to enter Canada?

The laws are starting to get strict. I can almost guarantee that you will need one to return to the USA.

Just curious what you meant by this ? Do you mean to say that EVH doesn't read music ?

Wasn't he also a classically trained pianist ??
I'm planning to go opening night. Don't have a ticket yet though, but I'll be there for sure.

If we get enough people here can we get a group discount?

If he's driving he won't need a passport to reenter the United States but if he's flying he cannot reenter the USA without a passport. A passport is a good thing to have if you're going to cross an international border.

Perhaps, yeah! Here's the phone number for group orders, in case you don't have it: 1-800-724-6420

EVH says he doesn't know much musical theory, but I take comments like that with a pinch of salt. It all depends on how much theory you use, and how important you think it is. When he plays a G chord, I'm sure he thinks of it as G, and not 320033 in tab. And I'm sure he knows where his notes are on his neck. I count that as knowing theory.

Someone once told me Steve Howe from Yes doesn't know his theory, either. That I find hard to believe. He's clearly a very well-trained musician who usually does things with a very classical approach. But hey, you never know...

Your thoughts?

Steve Howe? Really? Wow.

Sorry, i´ve missed this.
When i asked SirGH about music theory i was talking about reading music from paper like classical musicians and i think the answers i got were in respect to this.

Of course VAn HAlen and Malmsteen know their theory and malmesteen can improvise, but they can´t read.

Van HAlen was indeed classical trained pianist and won two competitions as a pianist, but he stated that he wasn´t reading the papers. He just listen to his teacher playing the songs and then figure out howe to achieve it!
He said it was an interesting result ; )

Now, with an effort he could read but it would take him some time to figure out the song. I think you need to have more training before you can say you read music.

On the other hand he has developed a great ear.

Take care
