You can see a fuckface every time you look in a mirror.

As to who is an idiot when speaking of James Brown, why don't you check today's news from all over the world... and you'll get the answer.

Freddie's sexuality in my post was just an example of how jerks can't see a big picture and only talk about irrelevant superficial things.[/QUOTE]

I don't think that beating your wife or running from police is either irrelevant or superficial. No one is arguing the fact that James Brown was a huge talent. I don't think that Mr. Jingles was trying to be disrepectful. He was merely stating the facts.

For your information, Albert Einstein was also cruel to his wife. Would you talk about him in that way also?
THE BIG PICTURE, you small people... THE BIG PICTURE is what's important.
Maybe if Albert Einstein had a number 1 record...

He did. 'Theory Of Relatively Boogie'.

Well, Albert Einstein would also be a dick for mistreating his wife. The big picture is what's important, but it's made of all the little things - not just what you're known for.

I was damn upset when I heard about this. *What a voice* that guy had.

Well, I guess this is goodbye, James Brown. You'll be smacking angels in Heaven, dude.
"jerks can't see a big picture and only talk about irrelevant superficial things."

I mean no disrespect sir; but spousal abuse isn't irrelevant and superficial. At times, even the perpetrators are guilty about it - so it's hardly right for you to try and get people to pretend it never happened.

We know he was great, his music speaks for itself - we don't need you sticking up for him. Just because you like the guy, doesn't mean you should be defending things that really shouldn't be defended.

Just stick to discussion of his music, because it seems you may have trouble understanding the concepts behind the 'other stuff'.

Seconded.

To the abused wife THE BIG PICTURE was the abuse she suffered at his hand.

And to answer your question about Einstein...
If he was a prick to the people who were supposed to matter most, then yes, I'd talk about him in that way also. So what if he was brilliant. A brilliant man can't be a prick? A brilliant man can't be called irresponsible? A man who beats his wife is no hero - by any stretch of the imagination. Dismissing it in favor of his remarkable career is akin to condoning it.

As for James Brown, I've listened to his music, and I've watched his performances on TV, but I never would have gone over to shake the guy's hand. Brilliance ends when the song is over.
"The others don't like my interviews. And frankly, I don't care much for theirs." ~ Freddie Mercury
Too bad that "I'm James Brown, bitch" never became a catchphrase.

We can make it a catchphrase from now on...in memory of him.

Actually, has anyone noticed how...dental... he was?

1....2...3...4...yeaaaowwww that sounds like a dental visit to me. Then there's all that taking it to the bridge (work)...
Hmm. Watching the news, you'd swear that some spots on James Brown would be about different people. That seems to be a common problem for people with upsetting backgrounds and a lot of money. The more they put into being good at what they do, and the more they seem to do for people; the more their private lives just *suck* balls.

Gotta agree with Zebonka on this one. As a musician and performer he was an incredible talant, and he will be missed. He has my respect in that reguard.
However, once the music as stopped, so has the respect. I find it hard to have respect for someone who was so low that he felt the need to beat up on others (especially his wife) to make himself feel better. That's not anything to defend in any circumstance at all, no matter how brilliant the person is....that's cowardly and cruel, and those qualities should NEVER be defended.
Like Zebonka said...the big picture is fine, but remember that it's made of little pieces.
