I think he's a good idea because I don't care if the actors are twins and Johnny Depp is one of the only actors that will draw me to a movie simply because it's "him". I don't care about looks - I just think he's a great actor, and probably the only one that could get me to see a "Freddie Movie" - unless the reviews were SO FANTASTIC and A.O. Scott told me that if I didn't see it, I would burn in Hell.
I don't care too much about the acting, more that all my friends love Johnny, so If he plays Freddie, all my friends will watch it and realize how cool Queen are

That's how I see it, except on a broader scale. Famous actors will draw people to Queen. A simple movie will not.

I've nothing against Johnny Depp but I do have reservations about a film in general. I know that (good) actors do a lot of research on their subject before playing them but, let's be honest, there's still a lot about his life that is a closed book, when people don't have facts, you run the risk of creating inaccurate portrayals. Freddie was such a unique person not only in terms of character but also looks and speaking voice. I'm worried a film may end up merely parodying him as some over the top diva with huge teeth and a snooty accent.
i think johnny depp would be a good choice because he's a versatile actor. but anyone less famous would be also very good, because you can imagine "yeah, there's freddie" and not "hummmm well freddie looks very much like johnny depp".

I think that Johnny Depp will do a great job!
When I first heard about the film, I really hoped for Johnny Depp, and now that he is going to play/act Freddie, I'm really pleased!
Depp is on my top 3 actors, I think - After Robert De Niro.. . ..

Who are you ? I've never seen you before. Someone's opinion on what makes a good actor is a PERSONAL OPINION. For me, he's one of the only "big" actors of the screen that let me forget he's Johnny Depp and appreciate the character - to me, that makes a good actor. Of course, you may not hold the same opinion, and that's fine.
It would be best if you didn't bash people when you don't know who they are. You don't know if I am a producer, and indie film-maker, or majoring in acting or drama. Thankfully, you don't decide whose opinion "counts" (nor do I, for that matter).
At least I had an opinion - you just have a juvenile attitude - a mature person that disagreed would do something like cite, "Well, in this film shows flaws in Mr. Depp's acting BECAUSE." I explained myself even in my first post - but you are just being base, foolish, and I apologise if you do not speak English fluently, but you write like a child.
Bring valid points to the table instead of calling names because you are either incapable of intelligent debate or writing out a complex thought.
ADDENDUM : I've read only two posts from you, but in both you appear to have a putrid attitude. I suppose it's worthless to try to have a decent conversation with someone of your presented nature. You're either another new waste of space, a clone account, or maybe even my 13-year-old brother. If Johnny plays Freddie it will bring in soo many new Queen fans as I asked my friend if she would watch the film and she said no. I then said what if Depp played him and she goes yeah.
Johhny Depp has alot of fans who watch every film he is in and so will most likely watch the Freddie film and bring in alot of new Freddie fans :)
