i don´t agree at all.
i think u2 are the greatest stadium-live band with the best and most satisfying performance in the last 10 years and the edge is (next to johnny marr) the greatest and most influential guitar player from the 80s post punk era.

U2 are one of my favourite bands as far as i know U2 and Queen had the greatest respect for each other like ye all said Freddie and Bono shared a mic at Live Aid Brian May said The Edge is one of the best guitar players in the world plus in one of the U2 books Bono played a tribute to Freddie saying what a cool guy he was in one of their concerts he was playing with the band.they also sent flowers to Freddie's funerel and they played at the Freddie Mercury tribute via satellite.I dont know was it live or recorded but it was a great effort of will to pay tribute to one of rocks finest. Ithink Queen And U2 are the best bands in the world ever. So there

i think probably if Queen were still rocking now there would be a little competition between the two.
I do like u2 and thats why it bothered me to think my two favorite bands might have hated eachother.
I did see that u2 comment on brian's website but i was also wondering about Freddie's realtionship with Bono but now i can see that it was a rumor and not fact.

my opinion is that bono is an awesome performer, both live and in studio. I also appreciate u2, but sometimes they're boring in my opinion. 'bout queen i don't spend more words....
they're my guide! I really much appreciated the notice that u2 played a snippet of wwry into vertigo at Aukland (sorry if i'm wrong with Aukland) last year. They were very classful guys! Last but not least I don't understand when find here and there any apathy between q & u2 fans. I don't agree: both queen and u2 are pop/rock band that plays song to entertain people and against violence and rage.

Personally I think that Green Day and Muse are capable of putting better live shows than U2. After attending live shows for those 3 bands, I have to say that U2 are still very strong but there are better bands out there.

U2 is okay...yeah, the only U2 song I like is their cover of "The Saints Are Coming" with Green Day. Believe me, I've listened to everything from "Beautiful Day" to "With or Without You" and didn't like even one of them...I haven't seen their live shows so I don't know what kind of performer Bono is, but I don't like him. Their lyrics are nothing compared to Queen, IMO. You can have your own opinions. Just like Queen's lyrics are nothing compared to Bob Dylan's...but that's a fact. :P I don't know about any Queen-U2 rivalry but I bet Bono knows Freddie was better than him. And Brian May is 100x better than "The Edge", and this is true even if you don't like Queen. Bono is basically one of those self-important dudes who don't want to admit any influence from other bands.

I have to admit that Queen weren't the best lyric writers out there, and the only one who might come up with deep and meaningful lyrics was Brian May. The other 3 rarely had any moments of lyrical inspiration.
I'm not saying that the 4 members of Queen were dreadful lyricists (there are worse), but we have to admit that they had some quite embarassing moments.

Although Bono writes the majority of the lyrics for U2 songs, he's not quite safe either. 'Elevation' for instance has some of the most atrocious lyrics anyone would have come up with ("A mole diggin' in a hole"). Yet, the song itself has become an important part of U2's recent live shows for it's mass appeal as a strong song to play live. If it's for the sake of fun and kicking ass on stage, then fuck the lyrics.

To my opinion, U2 is nothing. I like two-three songs. But because of melodies. Aranged bad for me. They are not highly skilled musicians. I had seen one of the last their concert (on TV) and there were so little MUSIC in that... They are like FOUR DJ's. For about 5 minutes Bono was 'singing'(saying) "No war, world for peace, ..." or something like that...

i saw u2 live at Earls Court for the Elevation tour and they were excellent. You can't really compare the two bands as their approach is different on most levels - musically, lyrically and thematically. I love Queen, I like U2.

I think Bono might have had something to say about the Queen concerts in Sun City didn't he?
