Coldplay

Since roger said coldplay are crap i think chris martin takes every opportunity to indirectly criticise or dismiss queen. i just think it's funny. Take the link above where he discusses U2 and you can sense that he's indirectly referring to queen...ye'll get the jist.

Roger was right - all their songs are the same, and they're depressing. Roger obviously has good taste, and chris martin thinks he's great - loser!!

Article is from April 15, 2004 - I believe Roger's words about the Coldplay crap happened later (June 2005). And actually he said "everything they do sounds too similar", but not "crap". Though it is.

Oh it's blatant, isn't it? The way the word "Queen" does not appear in the article is a dead giveaway...

plus the rest of it is SOOOO spot on - the ever changing lineup of ZZ Top...

Is crap, yeah! I'm with you, guys. All the songs are the same... They re bad composers.

I wouldn't necessarily say they're bad composers. More like they're afraid to move away from their comfort zone.

I think they're good composers and good performers, but Chris should sing more with his natural voice instead of that annoying falsetto. And the drummer should play more guitar.

Seb, why they're good composers?

- Just several chords: songs's structures are simple (I love good simple songs but they have just ONLY simple structure songs). No sequences (just vesre-chorus-sequences)
- Where is beautiful melodies?
- Where is songs's variety?

What make them at least good composers?

I confess, I've heard just several albums and one live album.

'Trouble' and 'Don't Panic' don't sound alike at all. 'Clocks' (a song I hate) is quite different from the others too. I like 'Fix You' although I think it's tad overrated.

All in all, Coldplay are a good band. Of course not as good or versatile as Radiohead (how can you compare a VW Beetle with a Ferrari?) or others, but still good.

And U2 are the only band who have been together over 30 years and still haven't learnt how to play their instruments ;)
