Hello fellow Queen fans.
I have (finally) begun selling/shilling copies of the two little books I wrote about my own fandom of Queen, 2003's God Save My Queen: A Tribute and 2005's God Save My Queen II: The Show Must Go On, on my website through PayPal.
For details on the books, go to:

As a special offer to Queenzoners, I am offering both books for $10, postage-paid in the U.S. Just write a favorite (or not favorite) line of lyrics from the Hot Space album. This is how I'll know you are ordering from Queenzone.
Backchannel me at danielmnester at hotmail dot come if you want to work out an international mail option.

Let me get this straight: you are trying to market your book, doing so in an utterly bizarre fashion, and want us to order by speaking in code?
What AREN'T you high on at the time of writing?
What AREN'T you high on at the time of writing?
Oh Thomas, even when a fellow QZer is showing some generosity, you just HAVE to speak out against it, don't you?
I think it's a neat idea.

Well, Thomas, it's not really code, not if you have the Hot Space album. For the record, I'm not high, althought I suspect you might be on some kind of OxyContin-type drug, judging by your hyper-hysterical jackass response. Or perhaps cough syrup?
Anyhoo, there is such a thing as web trollers. And there is such as thing as having fun, which is what the Hot Space thing is supposed to be.

I'm all for a little weirdness, but not when it's as random as a pig on Mars.
Not for randomness, eh? And you call yourself a Queen fan?
It’s a curious thing, dealing with grumpy Dutch 18-year-old Queen fans for whom English is not their native language:
- There is that desire to lash out at things you don’t understand, so common with teenage boys;
- Then you have the Dutch stereotype of the know-it-all scold, the chap who taunts exchange students for not acting suitably understatedly dressed;
- There is being nonplussed by things like an author writing books and in turn trying to reach an audience;
- And then of course there is the lack of wit, being self-aware enough to realize that what one is saying or writing makes them look like a total putz.
A lot of these stereotypes cross cultural boundaries, for sure. But this is maybe the third or fourth time in recent years I’ve posted on QZ and some dude from the Netherlands who was barely able to take a solo flight to the bathroom when I started posting here and was barely a twinkle in his daddy’s daddy eye when I heard my first Queen record, deigns it upon himself to heckle one of my posts. It would be OK if I was saying John Deacon sang on every Queen track, but practically giving away books to fellow Queen fans?
Then again, ThomasQuinn was a “Top Twat” nominee some years back, so perhaps he’s in a category all to himself.

Wow. I am quite impressed by your getting my age and nationality right; I mean, you got all else wrong, so that's quite a feat.
Besides, you are in the personal section here. Want to promote your book? Fine, go to Sharing The Music - General.
My reason for attacking you? I dislike commercials on forums.

I think I'm right about top twat and the general idiot bit, which is good enough for me. And if you don't know any Hot Space lyrics by heart, you shouldn't even be here. Don't try to outflame me, jackass.
One can put anything in the "Personal" forum, by the way. As we speak, another longtime Queenzoner is putting up eBay listings under "Serious Discussion," which prompted some complaints. I don't agree with those complaints, but that's why I put it here, in "Personal."
I hope this isn't getting too complicated for you. I taught ESL for some years, so I am trying to make this as simple as possible.

Sharing the Music is for mp3 and mp4 files, ThomTwat. If I were giving away a PDF file of my book, perhaps it would qualify.
By the way: Just what value do you add to the QZ fora, besides heckling and being a general jackass? What gives you the right to "attack" people on this site, for whatever reason, valid or not?

Now! now! enough with the insults! And hey! congratulations on your books! I think it really is a nice gesture - the discount for the Queenzoners.
Cheers! :D
Cheers! :D
Thomas likes to think he can patrol QZ and tell others where they can and can't post, when this thread is just right for the "Personal" section. And Thomas, if you so dislike "commercials" on QZ, then what do you think of the Google ads at the top of every page on the forums? Any thoughts on those? Why don't you start complaining about that instead?
You've essentially taken a great big unwanted shit on a worthwhile, generous thread. Congratulations.

Funny think, Lester, is that I actually looked into taking Google ads for my book at one point. And it made sense to get the word out to a certain point. But then I thought I would just open up a thread here, and sort of announce I was selling some copies of my book for cheap to Queenzoners, to sort of get the word out, too. What frustrates me is that I anticipated just the kind of wankery Thomas has done here, thought I could avoid it. It obviously sets me off, because I truly feel like there is a community and a family here, and there's lots of folks who just crap on it without even thinking of the consequences.
You rock, Lester.
You rock, Lester.
Thanks for you kind offer, Daniel. I do own your books and cherish them. I'll email you anyway about something else.
Don't be too frustrated about the answer by TQ, he is not the speaker of the QZ community. It's perfectly okay to promote your books on QZ, they are Queen related books and have their own poetic value. They are definitely worth having for all Queen fans who are interested in music and in reading. For what it's worth I am proud you post on this forum.

Hugs to you, Valentine! Rock on!
