Don't Stop Me Now - (Coming soon...)

I've been brought out of retirement(!) to perform DSMN at my friend's wedding and like a chump, I agreed to do it! Anyway, this brings up two things to post here:

1. Studio version
2. Live version


I'm currently building the backing track and am onto the wonderful harmony parts that sound cool already. And I've only done the intro bits!
But yeah, I'm doing the entire song in my bedroom studio and will basically have covered it in its entirety there. But then I'll take the backing track and do it live with my BHM guitar in tow. Hope it goes well.

Anyway, just putting up a thread cause it's coming together nicely and I'd like to put it up here when it's done. Maybe a week or two to complete things. Just have to see how the recordings go.

Haha! It's sounding good before I've mixed it and that is always the best sign you can have. I'm only half-way with the harmonies, but it's really coming together.
I'm thinking I might extend the middle breakdown bit just like on Live Killers. It'll give more time for my voice to come back, live. AND...I'll get more guitar time!! Anyway, definitely going to need the next 2-3 weeks to get it all completed. I think the harmonies are so difficult because I'm one guy doing 3-4 part stuff and sometimes the range is just fantastically high.

Anyway, it's puurrty cool. Hype? Nah!

Yah...a little delayed at the mo cause I'm allowed to do more than just one song now! So, I'm setting out a short list of stuff I wanna try!

I'm keeping the list short cause they have a band that I really don't wanna upset!

Born To Love You doesn't get enough love. I say go with that!

How about You and I? That would be interesting, as I don't think it's ever been performed live. The obviously one is, of course, You're My Best Friend.

IWBTLY was definitely something I wanted to try cause I started covering it a couple of years ago and lost it in a disk crash. CURSES!

As for You & I, it was one I thought of straight away, but it's a wedding crowd and I think it'd be too indulgent. I would love to, though!

You're My Best Friend? Hmm...I'll think on that one. I remember I almost did that a few years back for someone's engagement party. In fact...OH yeah! I was gonna do Born To Love You there at that party, too.

Nice suggestion, but again, I get the feeling that the wedding vibe ain't right for it. Again, I love the song, but not the right place.

Was on the phone yesterday to find that there's a half an hour break from the band where I could fill-in. Half an hour! Didn't realise I'd have that kind of time.

I've definitely got Crazy Little Thing Called Love with an official backing track. Practiced singing on it and it's sounding great.

Don't Stop Me Now, as originally planned. Sang through yesterday with "CLTCL" and it sounded good!

I Was Born To Love You backing is coming along very nicely. I've managed to merge some Freddie instrums like the bass synth and piano into my backing track. Sounds nice.

Might also be doing TAT_Days of Our Lives. I did this for them 2 years ago at their engagement party, so it might be cool to revisit this one.

Looking for a couple more now. Somebody To Love is still under consideration. So...looks like there's going to be a fair amount of tracks being posted here, not just DSMN. Cool!
