Good luck dude :D[/QUOTE]
Ho Ho mofo..! Lmao Yeah, well, we never did get through that cover, did we? I was waiting for some harmony vox notes, I remember. And I kept thinking I'd rather get my brother's piano playing on it. I should've just done it myself.
Well, you may find this interesting. A guy I know emailed me out of the blue asking if we could put together a band to do Queen covers over the summer. How could I say no?! Anyway, I think I'll put that one we tried up, see where it goes.
Didn't get a great deal done today cause I had a pounding headache for hours. Ugh... But I did get the piano and bass down on Someone To Die For. Just need to drag over the drums and put on some string bits and then guitars. That latter being most interesting, methinks. A woo ha ha!

I've got to ask, as no one else has - who's song is Someone To Die For?

Hey there Fickle. It's a song that was attached to Spiderman 2. The Queen link is that Brian played the solo and harmony guitar stuff on it. It's a really nice song, though. I'm enjoying putting it together.

Oh right, an obscure link indeed! ;)

Just to say that I finished the backing vox on DSMNow today, so the song is pretty much done. Once I get done performing it on Saturday, I'll try and post something over those next few days. Hopefully, I'll have some video or audio to share.
I'm pretty blown away by the harmony vocals. Not amazing sounding. But they're pretty damned cool! Now, just need to get back to STDFor, IWBTLYou and TATDOOLives. The latter two are very close to being done as well. Very excited about Born To, cause I think I can do all the solo stuff on it. Even the mad bit towards the end (not the tapping bit).

C'mon, Adam.
Put up or shut up! Let's hear it.
Or are you chicken?

Thinks.. *No smiley with tongue. Hmm...* *Chicken..? ... Weird*
Rule of thumb...NEVER rush yourself. And hey, I've got 3 other songs to complete before tomorrow
afternoon, so cool it.
Also, lest we forget that you submitted no less than 3 mixes of Killer Queen! That's certainly not how I work as I adopt the, "When it's done" attitude.
Against my better judgement, here's a pair of taster sound files.
http://www.savefile.com/files/731995 - intro bit
http://www.savefile.com/files/731996 - bit more
I originally made these for my friend to hear what I'm doing, so don't say I'm not being kind by showing them!
It's been nice to have a little diary in this thread. It's gonna be even cooler to post these tracks. Just so you understand why I'm happy about these - I haven't done Queen covers for years. And never so many all at once.
Adam.
EDIT: Just to put the files in context...the lead vocal on those files is just a guide vocal. I won't be putting a lead vocal on till Sunday at the earliest. Probably sometime next week, really.
Another file to tide the time:
BTW, I don't think the smiley was necessary. Who seriously calls someone else chicken anymore?
And, I submitted *no more* than 3 versions, over the course of almost TWO YEARS! That's a big span, considering how much my studio changed in that time.

Ok, the good news = I played and sang my heart out and they loved it. I even got comments from the lead singer of the main band, telling me it was really good and that he saw people really getting into it. That pleased me, muchly..! Man, it went by sooo fast. Such a blur.
The bad news? Well, the minidisc I had brought along to record the gig had a dead battery. That's what you get for not checking, Adam! I actually had TWO with me and both had bad batteries! Need to invest in good batteries cause that's 3 bad ones now. They've had good use!
No fear, I thought, I have a mic with me and the soundcard I'm playing the tracks off can also record the sound! Yaay... Oh, yeah...forgot to arm and hit record...yikes.
But I tell you what, I had a blast recording these tracks and singing them for my good friend and his, now wife. I came away feeling happy. No memento of the moment, but hey, it was a great day.
On the positive side, I think I saw someone with a video camera filming me!! LOL I live in hope. It's the 2nd time I've played live and it's the second time something's happened where the recording I planned, didn't work/happen.
Anyway, I sang DSMNow, IWBTLYou and CLTCLove. I didn't get to do "Days of" or "Someone To Die For". STDFor was incomplete, though. I just didn't have the time to record guitar after guitar and work out the harmony guitars. And I actually woke up and recorded/mixed bits for IWBTLY between 11am and 1pm (the wedding was at 1:30pm!). And even though I had TATDOOLives with me and could've done it...well, I just felt it would've been like I was being a show-off doing a third song with a guitar solo. You know?
Anyway, good day. Wish I could've shared it with you all.
