I can't stand the sound of Bob Dylan so I can't be objective and even comment on his writing abilities. I have no doubt he's talented, obviously...he's got fans, lots of them. I'm sure he'll be fine with out me as one of them.

;)

No, I like him.
(:
Like some other people, I think Dylan is a great songwriter... But once he sings the stuff he writes, he spoils it all. I hate his voice big time. Some of his arrangements suck too.

You've been listening to Eric Clapton's version then. Don't. It sucks.

He's always been fucked up.

But the world is even more fucked up than him, and that's why so many idiots think of him as the greatest guitarist.

OK, I think I know where you're getting at?

You're still mad that Jimmy Page allowed P.Diddy to be musically rape 'Kashmir' in an absolutely horrendours act of artistic blasphemy.

It's been almost 10 years and I'm still not over it yet.
Nope.

It's just that he's a very bad guitarist.
Only if you're deaf and completely oblivious to guitar-playing.

The fact that you can't stand him by itself should prove that he's good.

Bob Dylan's son sings better, much better. If you don't know who he is, he's the lead singer of The Wallflowers. I think his name is Jakob Dylan.

If anybody is interested, here is one of my favorite Wallflower songs. It's called When You're On Top.

It's a little annoying to see how you try to play the bad guy all the time. You're just a moron, and a very ignorant one.

I want to think that you don't really think that Page is a good guitarist... but in case you do, I wouldn't be surprised at all.

I concur.
That might be to do with the fact that you are both inhabitants of a world marked by brain death.

I fully concur that Jimmy Page is certainly not the world's greatest guitarist, but I also note that he is quite competent. More so than, say, Santana, who is not at all a bad guitarist. Naturally he is not in the league of Becker, Vai, Satriani, Malmsteen, or Todd Rundgren but he is definitely in the league Carlos Santana, David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix.

I will remain polite because I do not feel like wasting even a little energy in extensively insulting you for your stupidity about my person. I will point out to you that I am not really stupid, being quite a successful bachelor-student of History (American and Mediaeval) and Music at Leiden university. My main interest is in music theory and music history, and I also have a number of years' experience at playing the guitar. You fill find that I am quite in the 'gnosos' you accuse me of being out of.

Nothing quite like a debate over how shitty Jimmy Page is.

What I like especially is that no one ever offers up what they've heard of his playing to support the argument.
If I want to show someone how shitty Jimmy Page is, I show them that show the surviving Led Zeppelin guys did in '88 for the Atlantic Records thing.
If I want someone to appreciate Jimmy Page, I show them Achilles' Last Stand. His playing, I suppose, is not particularly inspiring on that track, but he manages to at least compose a solo that goes on a bit and doesn't repeat itself too much. It's a talent.
And I'm really trying to be objective, when I say this.

No one likes to see someone get rich and famous for ostensibly doing something 'that even I' can do.... but there's no point being bitter about it! Be more like Neeley.
