I have to say it - scurry. <shudder> That's the alternate word, yes? The very sound of it conjures up some pretty frightening mult-legged creatures in my mind. OMG. The words "multi-legged" apparently have the same effect on me...
In all honesty, I don't mind spiders - not if they're outside somewhere. I figure, that's their house, so who am I to say a word about it? Also, I don't mind spiders that aren't moving. It's when those skinny little hairy legs get to twitching that the paralyzing tingles shoot up and down my spine. OMG... and when they walk/run/scurry/stretch or whatever you want to call it... damn it to freakin' hell. I can't stand it. No matter how brave and mature I try to be, it just doesn't happen for me.
One day, ages ago, I found one of those chunky spiders in my house - you know the kind. The Rocky Balboas of spiderworld. Well, I figured, who better to kill a spider than... my cat. :-) I scooped her up and showed her the spider. It took a while for her to realize what it was, I guess, because she just sat there like she was expecting to be brushed or something. Well, when that dang spider started to move, I screamed so loud, I scared myself! Must have scared my sweet little killer kitty, too, because she bolted from the room, leaving me and a twitchin' eight-legger all alone. The best I could do was run to the kitchen, grab a glass, and cup it over the nasty critter. Thankfully, a friend of mine came over that evening and laugingly took the glass and spider into the yard.

lol! You sound like me! I am so terrified of them when they are running that I can't even kill them! My son has always wanted a pet tarantula, and I told him that the day he brought one home would be the day he moved out ;-) About two months ago he came home grinning and told me he had got a new pet. I said "You didn't!" He said "Absolutely not!" Turns out, he bought a scorpion *Yikes*! I told him that Mr. scorpion had to live elsewhere, so he now resides at my son's workplace.

I don't like spiders in my house but I'm grateful for them outside. They serve a wonderful purpose in nature. Somewhere on here in the past I posted pictures of a lovely spider who made her nest on my house. The babies never made it though. My yard was infested with grasshoppers that were ruining my plants and grass. Once she came along, there was a nice balance and her services were free!
Can't beat that!

All spiders must die...indoors or outdoors. ;-P
Wade and I hate spiders...they are gross and hairy
which reminds me...Freddie didn't like spiders either...never wanted to hurt them...but still didn't like them =)

The best kind of spiders are the ones from Mars.
These are the kind of spiders I'm scared of the most...I once pulled back my sheets to get in bed...and a HUGE one was under the covers!!!!!!!http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.hr-rna.com/RNA/images/Spiders/Garage%2520Wolf%2520rez.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.hr-rna.com/RNA/Spider%2520pages/Wolf%2520page%25201.htm&h=432&w=522&sz=61&hl=en&start=3&um=1&tbnid=OSWv0XA_hKRhbM:&tbnh=108&tbnw=131&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dwolf%2Bspiders%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4RNWN_enUS218US218%26sa%3DX

I don't like spiders. I'm not terrified of them anymore, I've trained myself not to be, because it was getting stupid.
I can deal with small ones, I just put a glass over them and put them outside, however, I do really hate the big house spiders. They make me feel a bit sick, and I find it very different to go anywhere near them. One fell on me when I was in my attic the other day and I did scream.
I'm pleased to say, I don't think I've ever (intentionally) killed a spider though. I don't agree with killing insects for some reason. Except wasps perhaps.

To quote the legendary Charlotte of 'Charlotte's Web' when replying to Wilbur's revulsion of her eating insects, if she didn't: 'Bugs would increase and multiply and become so numerous...' I can't remember the rest, but the world couldn't cope. Spiders are nice insects. Apart from REALLY big ones or poisionous ones.

I always get my dad or my brother to kill them for me.
