Last nights performance was not only great in my opinion but also showed that Paul Rodgers as actually "arrived" as part of QPR. Roger song written to Paul's strenghts. New singer influence!
He looked great, sang great and looked as though they have been together for years!!!. They were very tight as a unit, great backing vocals and can only get better!! They should be well and truly primed come the tour.!!
Hopefully no Brixton job this time where they were finding their feet!

You guys really seem to rattle on about who Queen was or wasn't. Surely its got nothing to do with us what they call themselves?. This is Queen now weather we like it or not. Is it the same as before? Of course not. Are they as good? No. But this is it, better than no Queen at all in my opinion

If The Cross released C-Lebrity this week, it would chart at #80. If Queen (with Freddie) released it this week, it would chart at #8.
In either case it would still be a mediocre tune fit to a Cross-album, but it would sell a lot more if it featured Freddie on vocals.

Well, trying to avoid the extremes (the ones who hate anything done after 1991 and the ones who love everything related to queen), I think this is what we can agree upon:
- the song is based on a Roger Idea (there are moods recalling I cry for you or People in Streets); but most of all it reminds "the Cross" (think of, i.e. 'Rough Justice' or 'Contact', which is not necessarily a bad thing.. what is sure is that this - at least this song - has no strong ties with the classic Queen we were used to).
- The riff sounds heavy, and follows the trend of AOR bands that turned up distortions in their albums (think of Europe's Secret Society or Bon Jovi's 'Hook me up'). This said, it is a hard rock riff, but quite a simple one, as well as the solo.
- They decided - at least for what appears in this song - not to be prisoners of a classic style, but to work together on what they musically feel at the moment. This is courageous and is a sign of creative vitality, but, we have to be prepared (had we any doubt left) that, names apart, this is not Queen.. or, if it is, it is a new chapter, that will likely split fans more than before bewteen 'pro' and 'contra'.
One more personal consideration.. I hope this is not the 'best' they have to show of their cooperation. This is 'good', but I am used to quote queen as much more than 'good'.

To be perfectly honest, I don't really care about the commercial success of C-Lebrity if it is released as a single.!! I just want to enjoy the new song and the new album. Even with Freddie on vocals it wouldn't be a massive hit anyway - heavy and too rocky!! Think you're finding it hard to come to terms with the fact that Freddie isn't singing - comparisons are inevitable in that case!

It sounded ok, can't see it being a big hit - is there even any point in a physical release?

I liked it, pretty good song.
The rift was awesome, the solo got me really exited. But the chorus was disappointing. I know this will most likely be the single, but if it is I hope the chorus is improved on the studio album. The chorus actually isn't that bad, it just contradicts the heavy rift and the verse far too much, it doesn't blend very well. I will admit though, whilst it has some very cool points, I wasn't really impressed, and whilst I don't care too much about the commercial success, I don't think that this will chart very well at all, and I hope that the new album has much more to offer.
Like others have said, something that we have to remember is that this is Queen+Paul Rodgers, not Queen. I will keep this in mind whilst contemplating the new song.
