Virgin Radio Coverage was quite good. But the ITV higlights, what a load of bollocks the ITV made of it, with the likes of "Philip Scofield" Blabbing on to "Steven Fry" when we can clearly hear the Guys playing in the background. One Vision(Cut out) Tie your mother down(Cut out) Show must go on(cut out) Alright Now(Cut out)
Maybe if "Philip Scofield" had Gordon the Gopher to interview, they would have cut out, Is This The World We Created, Rock You, Champions & The all star finale aswell.
Fingers crossed for the Concert to get released on DVD.
One thing though about tonights show, I was kind of hoping they would play some new tracks from the new album.
Although, One Vision was a great opener.

Do you think so? He doesn't do much for me. That doesn't make him a bad singer, he just doesn't float my boat. We only got two songs on British TV, WWRY and WATC. There was a horrible echo effect on Paul's mic -- presumably on purpose? I thought it sounded bad. The choir on WATC annoys me too: it's karaoke, not a real 'working' band. But I suppose we shouldn't expect that as long as they're doing Queen covers. looking forward to the new album as the songs will be written for Paul's voice and I'm hoping there'll be some spark. (would still prefer RT to handle all the vocals and they get a new drummer to replace him - Dave Grohl would do :)

Did anyone manage to record the whole Queen set, either off the TV or from the webcast?

All I managed to hear was the very end of Champions and Allright now (which was played last by the guys (!) bizarrely) on Virgin radio in my car with poor reception - even so they sounded on top form!

Having watched through the set now, it seems it was none other than Brian who was responsible for One Vision being a bit messy in places - he mucked up the rhythm off the riff in the opening, then proceded to hit the wrong chord pretty soon after! Oops!
I think it was also him that threw the others off during the "Cold wind blows...." bit - I think he changed chords too early. Im sure he'll nail it next time though - just a couple of unfortunate mistakes.

I thought Paul handled OV well enough apart from forgetting that one line, but I think they only need Roger on backing vocals for that one - not sure I liked the others chipping in.
As for the rest of the set - that was possibly the best version of TSMGO Ive heard QPR do - it really sounded great tonight, and Paul's voice, love or hate his adlibs on everything, was superb.
Nice taster for the upcoming tour anyway - they sounded tight on the whole.

So far I have only seen 5 songs on tv and All Right Now on You Tube.....Glad to hear a new song (One Vision) It'll be tighter too when they get on tour (remembering the first Brixton show last time).....would like to see Is This The World We Created - hopefully someone will get it out there...or I'll watch tomorrow....does anyone know if Jivan Gasparayan played and if Brian joined him like he did in Norway....btw does anyone have the 46664 Norway show...

It was a great set they played! Paul is more comfortable with the Queen songs now and does an amazing job with the rock songs(I feel some other songs that were not played this night are less good like: AOBTD,CLTCL,IWTBF,Ga Ga, A kind of magic). Tie your mother down, We will rock you, champions, the show must go on, one vision: incredible vocals by Paul! And Brian and Rog were clearly very happy to be on stage again. I'm really happy for them. They still show a lot of young bands how to do it properly! I'm looking forward to the tour:-)
So here are my notes on the performance...
One Vision
- I thought using the Freddie intro was a bit tacky, intended to get an emotional response instead of relying on the actual performance.
- Paul was singing a blues song instead of One Vision. The vocals didn't seem to match the music at any point!
- A performance with plenty of mistakes. It was a good thing they didn't bother to play it all the way through.
Tie Your Mother Down
- An average cover version.
The Show Must Go On
- Again, Paul's vocals don't really match the music during the verses. He obviously has his own style of singing, so why doesn't the band make any compromises to his direction? They might actually sound like a proper band instead of a pub-karaoke if they did that!
We Will Rock You
- Started out as another average cover version, but the ad-libs during the chorus sounded interesting. Perhaps they should try a new arrangement around that?
We Are The Champions
- Paul sounds actually pretty good on this. What's really ruining this is the rest of the arrangement, which is a direct copy of the Queen performances. Again, with minor changes from Bri & Rog this would sound a lot better.
All Right Now
- What is there to say? An original Paul Rodgers vocal, with the original arrangement. How could this not be the highlight of the performance?
Overall, this confirms every fear I have about the band: The setlists are designed to cram in as many of the obvious hits as possible, and the arrangements don't take Paul into the slightest consideration.
Q+PR still sounds like mediocre cover band, when even small changes would make them actually sound like the new band they were supposed to be.
