Well, the Freddie intro on One Vision did get me emotionally excited for the performance. To me, keeping Freddie in the mix is pretty important for the overall impact since they are still going as "Queen" plus Paul Rodgers. For example, I would like to see more, rather than less, Freddie songs in the upcoming tour (hoping they get to the USA). Gosh, I would love it if they would do a medley of his beautiful delicate songs as a tribute to him. His song writing needs to be kept "out there" for the public to enjoy and I think a live performance of his songs is an excellent thing.
I agree that All Right Now was the "highlight of the performance" after watching it again on the VH1 broadcast. It was electric. It's just a really great song that has held up over the years and sounds as good now (as a tune and everything) as it did originally. With all the TV talent shows using that song, it is good to see the original "talent" performing it - so that also adds to the moment.
I also think that One Vision is a good song for today. It seems current (the tune and the message) and that is why I think it makes a great opening song.
It's funny how some of their music can seem more "current" now than when it was released (Hot Space songs, for example).

I think you made some assumptions about what I was saying - things I didn't say at all. I am not saying that I think they should include more of Freddie's voice or image in the new tour. I am referring to Freddie's songs only. I think they are great songs and should be "in the mix" of the total songs being used during the concert. I just think they need a higher percentage of them than what they had on the last tour. (Sorry, I obviously didn't make myself clear on that point.)
And I think it is a very bad idea (horrible, really) to re-record the opening of One Vision using Paul and giving it a bluesy treatment. I'd say the only good options for One Vision would be: keep the original opening; or have Spike just start with the keyboard part and then take it from there. But I do prefer the original opening for that. I don't really like the idea of them having duets or that sort of thing (using Freddie's voice). And I think that for this tour they will most likely not have that.
I also think that if they do a medley of Freddie's songs, it would not be necessary to do a bluesy version at all. If Paul (or maybe it would just be Brian singing) could stick to the notes as written that would be best, I think.
