The song in "The Works".
Why doesn't it end smoothly?
Beats me.

Mybe they didn't want to spent too much time on a filler
Have a great day Mark http://www.myspace.com/lostloversnederland
You are very nice calling it "filler", I would said "crap". I can´t understand how a band like Queen could have songs like that in an album... specially if is placed after IT¨S A HARD LIFE...

Jesus..
Queen rocks!

[/QUOTE] hey I say, if you dont like it, GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!
:)
being a Queen fan is to love everything they do because is Queen? even if is crap?... the works is a great album except Break free and Prowl... the rest is classic and great.

you dont have an idea of how much I love Queen (15 years of love now), but I do have a common sense that says to me that even them, the greatest band on the planet, made crap songs, crap albums and crap shows.

 wake up, nothing is perfect.
Queen rocks!
Because there's a god.

If you want something longer, check out the 6 1/2 minute extended version. Pretty soon you'll be WISHING the song was shorter...

Other than "Hammer to fall" the entire "Works" album is an embarrassment. “Man on the prowl” is a remake of “Crazy little thing called love” and should have been left off to begin with.

Because after 2 minutes they noticed that they were recycling material (again?) and gave up.
Only Hammer to fall?, man... its a hard life!!, keep passing!!, radio ga-ga (we are sick of it but its a great epic song) and even Machines are excellent!!, and "Is this the world...?" closes the album beatifully.
Queen rocks!
A very short album.

They should have included I Go Crazy and There Must be more to life than this, maybe something else left in the vaults or something that Roger was working on for Strange Frontier and it could be a classic album.

Radio GaGa, I want to break free, Hammer to fall and It's a Hard Life were great singles.
Machines is one of Queen's better album tracks from the 80's.

I used to get bored with this album. I didn't like it at all. Suddenly it hit me and I started to like the overall sound of the album and I really got into the Machine vs Human "concept" or "theme" in the album's production. Now I enjoy it a lot, even if I don't listen to it a lot.

Listen to it after months of being into 70's Queen and listening to long epics, layered guitars and all that and it WILL sound refreshing to your ears.

Still, too damn short.

Edit: I rambled talking about the album but forgot to address the actual topic. I don't particularly like Man on the Prowl, it IS filler but it is still enjoyable and it is sandwiched between two of the best tracks of the album (at least on the CD).

There is nothing worse than when an artist rips themselves off. It shows boredom and a total lack of imagination and inspiration. The Works is their second worse offering ever. The entire thing sounds sterile, flat and cold. They are four individuals simply going through the motions and recycling old ideas.

[listo] [li]Radio Ga, Ga is a complete joke and one of their most overrated songs. [li]Tear it up is a remake of We will rock you [li]It’s a hard life is a remake of Play the game [li]Man on the prowl is a remake of Crazy little thing called love [li]Machines is nauseous, repetitive & a complete bore! [li]I want to break free crawls along at a snails pace. The synth solo sounds like someone taking a shit. [li]Keep passing the open windows is a remake of Don’t stop me now. [li]Hammer to fall is the only good song on this scrap heap. [li]Is this the world we created? is a remake of the live version of Love of my life [/listo] .
