I like the album, personal taste and all that. I even like Man On The Prowl, not their best work but an enjoyable song. I'm not a big fan of comparing, take every song on individual merit. The album is what it is and it's fun. The only song I really don't think is that cracky is ITTWWC. It's just ok. I think I want to Break Free is great Queen pop and a great vocal from Freddie. Machines, great song, love listening to it.

I see a lot of shit on this thread...Let me remind you that thanks to this "Crap" album Queen came back with all the power and refreshing ideas and succed after "Hot Space"...you really think this albums is crap? or are you saying that people is stupid? Personally I have always thought that Man On the Prowl is the worst thing (outside of a couple of Flash gordon instrumentals) ever committed to vinyl by the band.
It's obvious they were trying to build on Crazy Little Thing, but it's just a dreadful tuneless mess of a song.
I disagree with the poster who says the works is a crap album though. Yes, some of the songs are derivative of others but they were trying for something that sounded like a Queen album after Hot space didnt and it worked.
I like the album - It's not the greatest ever, but it's not poor. I prefer it to The Miracle and I think its less variable than a Kind Of Magic.
But Man On the Prowl was so bad that I used to skip it even when I was litening to vinyl.
Trust me, for a track to make me get up off the couch and go to the trouble of lifting the needle to the next track... must have been bad.
I just checked my itunes... number of times Man On the Prowl has been played... zero!
So I have never actually got to the end of it. Even when in shuffle mode, if it comes on... I skip past it.
The only other Queen track I skip EVERY time is Delilah.
(Still Burnin is the first of the new album to be subjected to the skip button - but not every time)

Sorry for taking the subject 5 years ahead of "Works" but I can´t understand when people describe "The Miracle" as a bad album... look at the songs:

I enjoy MOTP. Love the ext. version even more!!! Better than CLTCL. The Works's problem is the album is just too short.

Why compare the songs on The Works with previous songs they released, of course there are similarities, but that's the typical Queen sound - they tried something different with HOT SPACE - and most of the fans were fucked up. To me HOT SPACE is as enjoyable as THRILLER. THE WORKS sounds like traditional Queen put into an innovative 80's outfit. And it made Queen one of the greatest bands of the 80's.
