whatever gave you that idea about Freddie? He made no secret of the fact that he was not going to go on forever...he was even fed up with the cycle of album-tour-album-tour

Even though Queen would have likely stopped touring full-time at or soon after the Magic tour regardless of his health, I think they'd have still done live shows and mini-tours in the future.

I think it's quite obvious there was a HUGE falling out between John and the other two. He was perfectly happy to be associated with and even on occasion perform with Queen until 1997.
I doubt we will ever know what the falling out consisted of. Perhaps there was a lot of bad blood over the No-One But You single which I think we made around that time. Maybe John felt that without Freddie, who was traditionally his "ally" in the band and the guy who he'd work with closely on his own material, that he no longer stood a chance with Brian and Roger.

I think that John's wishes should be respected. No one knows what has happened in the past and to speculate is unwise. Good luck to him in the future and thanks for all the happiness his contributions to Queen have given me in the past.
If by just retiring (doesn't he have the rights to do so the same way as Brian and Roger can make a new band?) he is getting such criticism, I can imagine if he had joined another band without the other two what could be the names he would be called for that.
