Who's do you think is the best Queen song writer
I would personally say Roger because of the hits he wrote for Queen & The Cross & His Solo stuff all his songs are great what do you think.

I think i agree with you, It seems to be Roger.

All four were strong writers with different tastes.  It would be quite impossible for me to pick the strongest; however, it's very obvious who, among them, wrote the most hits.  I don't think I need to elaborate on that.

well, don't have anything against Roger, but Queen succeded in 70-s because of songs from Freddie and Brian. John had also big hit You're my best friend. Roger first major hit was Radio gaga, only in 1984...I would say Freddie was the best...

were all the later queen songs not credited to queen?.and not one person.i may be wrong on this.but assuming you are talking about early queen.my vote is for roger.now i may be and possibly am wrong,but.did he get the credit for heaven for everyone and a kind of magic.if so he wins.

Yes Roger did get credit for Heaven for everyone and A Kind of Magic but his original version of magic and the one that was released bore little relationship to one another. Freddie chaged the arrangement whilst Roger was on holiday and that is the version on the album and single I think. Perhaps the magic on the credits of the Highlander film is Rogers original version, I'm not sure. It does seem strange that the song wasn't credieted to both he and Freddie give Freddies input.

I'm not sure who the best songwriter was myself. Freddie certainly wrote most of the big hits early on with the others writing more of them in the 80s. Infact Freddies last big hit with the band was Its a Hard life unless you count Innuendo which was of course credited to them all

i heard a cross version of heaven for everyone(i think a cross version)where some guy talks at the start.and i feel this is a better version.so roger wins.but.......theres always a but lol.as a group ,not solo,but as a group it would be impossible to seperate each talent in the wrighiting(how do you spell wrighting) department.i voted rog because of akom purley because i love the track.but  i think that all the guys talents show up in mainly later albums.

Hmm...if I had to choose, I would say....oh....Brian/Freddie. Brian writes with a lot of emotion (Sail Away Sweet Sister, Father To Son), but Freddie has an extraordinary imagination (Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke, Bo Rhap, MOTBQ).

I think [b]Freddie[/b]. All songs are very different from each other. From Great King Rat, My Fairy King, Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy, The March of the Black Queen, In The Lap of the Gods, Death on two legs to Delilah. Very good fantasy.

But Brian got some great songs too! Like White Queen, Save Me, She Makes Me,  Teo Torriatte and  It's Late.

John got some classics, In only seven days and Another one bites the dust for example.

But I think Roger got the best lyrics in Drowse. Especially the last verse. And of course Fight from the inside is cool.

i dont like questions like who is the best writer, best album and... from queen everything is the best.

I've never understood why people use A Kind of Magic as an example of Rogers composer talents as everything that was really appealing about the song an made it a success (base, beat, tempo, guitar riffs) were almost entirely down to Freddie re-working on the soundtrack song.

As acknowledged by peers contemporaries fans all four members were gifted and talented songwriters.
I believe with Freddie's amazing vocals and tone of voice this helped inspire the band to new and higher levels of creativity not attainable and replicated in other artists. You could have given that material to any other singer and the songs would probably never had the same impact or richness because other singers would be changing keys, simplifying the arrangements to suit their particular vocal range.
So Freddie for me.

When you hear and compare modern production, I just wish they could give the production on the Queen catalouge for example the same treatment they did with the Live in Montreal gig.
I have to really listen to what Roger sings in Drowse its not exactly coherent i suppose thats why its called Drowse you have to be stoned to figure out the speech.
Roger is not my favourite singer, I wonder what people's hearing is like with some of the comments on this forum, i guess Roger knows his voice wasn't going to sell like Freddie's, thats why Fred got the bulk of the lead vocals, and imo Fred should have sung the whole lot...ego i suggest dictated otherwise.
