Brian definitely. then Fred and Roger. Deacon wrote pop songs, some catchy, AOBTD, IWTBF, You and I, IYCBTJT, most rubbish though.

that's the way I also see it,  it's down to personal taste once it comes to freddie and brian, but roger and John didn't write enough in Queen to have a chance. Again,  roger is my least favorite.
Yeah, but he co-wrote about half of The Cross songs, and his extra solo stuff makes up from his 1 or 2 songs vs. Freddie and Brian's 4 or 5 each on the first 5 albums and then it only closed the gap a little bit.

I think Mercury has the overall edge by just a bit, then probably Taylor and May tied, but Deacon the best lyrics of all 4.
I'd don't think you can say who's best. They all write very different songs and I love them all!!!
All we need is one world wide vision!!!!
Although all four wrote some very good songs in their own right. All four have also written some very bad songs too. Below are what I comsider to be each individual song writer 3 worse efforts.

Freddie
Body language
Man on the prowl
Princes of the universe

Brian
She makes me
Gimme the price
Dancer

John
One year of love
Cool cat
Pain is close to pleasure

Roger
More of that jazz
Don't loose your head
Action this day

the cross?....they were horrible.  Talyor and may are tied?...I know it's all down to personal taste, but how can you compare talyor who wrote such gems as 'loser in the end' 'more of that Jazz'  'Fun it'  'don't lose your head'  and  'coming soon' to the great songwriter that brian may was in his prime.  The only people who like 'the cross' and solo roger are fanatical Queen fans.

again, Everyone's taste is different,  but I disagree.  'Princess of the universe' is a great song, it's also a favorite of brians.  I like 'one year of love,'  I never understood why that song gets bashed here on queenzone, and 'action this day' is a pretty good song from hot space, especially live.
Princes... is a great song IMO!
I also love Gimme The Prize, it's Freddie's most agressive vocal performance...
I too love Give Me the Price and Princess of the Universe. I also like I Want to be Free and I'm in Love With My Cat.
"Queen is the only band in the world that can play so heavily that your nose bleeds, then offer a silk handkerchief to clean up with."
I have to say Fred.  It took a great mind to write boheiman rhapsody and killer queen.  not only those, but love of my life, crazy little thing called love, somebody to love, we are the champions, seven seas of rhye, and death on two legs are all awsome fred songs.[/img]
If you want to be loved, love.

I like these song too but I think your feelings for your cat are not appropriate for this particular discussion.
Anyone could have written the songs of Deacon, May, and Taylor. Good songs, but nothing incredibly special.

Only one man could have written BoRap, Killer Queen, March of the Black Queen, Bicycle Race, You Take My Breath Away, Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon, etc.

The 3 "others", at their best, were good songwriters. Freddie, at his best, was unprecedented and incredibly unique.
