Yes, it´s ridiculous. Here, in Sweden, a pack of Prince is almost 50SEK(5£) and a snuffbox the same. When is it enough? They raise the taxes to stop people from using tobacco when all it does is increase smuggle. Stupid. Why don´t I quit?

At least the government earns some more money to heal those who decide to stop when it's too late - I personally think they should use EXCLUSIVELY the tax money coming from cigarettes. I don't think it's fair that I have to pay to heal those who got ill because of their own (stupid) choice AND also damage MY lungs with their smoke.

What about damage caused by alcohol? Broken legs from skiing? Injuries from car accidents? Why should you pay for that? Because the health system is based on solidarity. The healthy pay for the sick and the strong pay for the weak. Once you start to discriminate a group of people (smokers) you destroy the idea of solidarity. If you exclude smokers, overweight persons will be next - because why should you pay for the health problems of someone who cannot handle their weight? or the injuries of people who think they can ski (drive) AND destroy the landscape (environment) with their behaviour?

Slight slippery slope logic, but nonetheless a good point.  If one group of people can be tossed overboard, (figuratively speaking), then why not other groups?

LoL, I used to be 230 lbs! Now I'm a lot less, thanks to my diet of anxiety, cigarettes, and no food.

You really don't know Queenzone that well. It's hard to ignore anyone on here. I made a reasonable topic and there's reasonable discussion. The only person who's started shit in this thread is you. Now, everyone here has seen full photos of me. How about you post some of your self, huh suga?

I think for a large pack (25 smokes) in Ontario is about $9.50-$10.00 depending on the variety store. 7Eleven or Mac's is always the most expensive!
If you buy them on the Reservation which most do, their brands sell for about $4.00 for a large pack  and regular store brands $6.50.

Rule of thumb, dear: If it (any product) can be bought at a normal grocery store or drugstore, it's ALWAYS more expensive at Convenience Stores like those, which are about as convenient as Ticketmaster's "Convenience" charges . . .

    Hi Joxer...

A 20 pack of smokes here in Ontario, Canada is considered a "small pack".

@YV: How much money does your government spend every year to heal injuries caused by skiing and how much money does your government spend every year to heal people with smoking-related diseases? Also, how many people get hurt there every year by people who went skiing and how many people get diseases from breathing other people's smoke?
@Jake: My parents do, and neither of them smoke. Everything I buy also got taxes on it. And considering I'm living on my own, I'm over 18 and I'm attending university, in a couple of years I will be working and paying taxes too. And I'd rather see that money becoming better roads, safer cities, better schools and universities and many other things rather than fix someone's wrong choice - same should apply to people who got injured in car crashes while they were drunk, and a few other things. And I don't feel guilty as I say that, because millions are spent to inform people about the dangers of smoking, about driving drunk etc. Nobody can say they didn't know they were doing something harmful. They KNEW what was going to happen since the beginning.
