As long as non-album tracks (both remixes, singles, b sides) and a
shitload of demo's are on it, and I don NOT have to buy his four albums
again with just two bonus remixes, *I* will love it! Bring it on, Rog!
BUT...
Whatever he puts on it, the set will go down like a lead belloon commercially.
Which will give Brian second thoughts about putting out anything like that,
Which will postphone the Queen anthologies for another 15 years...

I'm sure it would sell 10,000 copies worldwide.
If Queen Productions can put out the Singles boxsets limited to a quantity of 10,000 and think that classes as "this years classic Queen release", then I see no reason they can't do the same with Roger's stuff!

This isn't exactly the right thread for this, but is it true that there'll be a fourth Greatest Hits album later this year?

No, perhaps not, but if there is one person who can't be arsed whether it sells or not, then it's Roger.
Brian is the one who's more into sales figures and the like. That's exactly the reason why we have seen some mediocre releases lately (read: the last couple of years).

No, that was someone on here being silly.
There is a 'Best of Queen' though. No tracklist yet, but it will most likely be recyled stuff from Seven Seas through to Show Must Go On.

The 4 Roger's albums each in deluxe Package, remastered with second disc full of B sides and 12" remixes. That will do for me.

Neither Roger nor Brian can release a Greatest Hits album because they simply didn't have solo hits. Well Brian had one or two with Driven By You and some other song from Back To The Light, and Roger maybe one minor hit with Nazis 1994 but it's not enough for an album, and the only audience for a normal solo anthology by these two is die-hard Queen fans; there'd be no point releasing the kind of thing Freddie had with the Solo Collection.
However, what would really be a good idea and would make fans happy, is that they'd put together large solo anthologies and release them through the Internet, via the official Queen website. Fans could just download the anthologies as flac files and burn them to CD; it's not necessary to put albums into shops in physical form nowadays. Hell, if they truly want to serve their fans, they could just share them for free in Queenzone or Queenonline! And I'm serious about this: Roger and Brian must know that they can't release comprehensive 5-10 disc solo collections to shops because there's not enough people who would buy the damn things, but if they feel that they want to let fans have all that stuff they could easily do it with the Internet. They wouldn't make a lot of money but they wouldn't lose it either and they're already millionaires anyway, and sharing or selling cheaply Bri and Rog's solo collections would easily make up for all the crappy releases Queen productions have put out during the past decade.
As for what to include in the anthologies, The Cross mentioned in some interview that they did 25 songs for Blue Rock. Well, 11 have been released - how about releasing the 14 songs from the Blue Rock sessions that have never seen the light of day. All the unreleased songs from Roger's and Brian's solo career should of course be released, and all rare songs from I Wanna Testify to Heartland and from Let Me Out to My Boy. Demos are always nice, especially when the demo versions were very different from the final versions and you can see how the songs developed. It would be nice to have live songs from the Cross, and any "rare" live songs Roger and Brian might have from the 90s. Roger and Brian are not going to make any more solo albums so it would be nice to have a few new songs from them - the first (and probably the last too) new songs from these guys since 1998 (The Cosmos Rocks can't be counted as either a Queen album or a solo album; in my view that album doesn't exist at all). The ideal situation would be that they'd compile 6-disc solo anthologies that consist of nothing but rarities from Brian and Roger, master them and sell them in Queenonline as flac files for 10 euros. I for one would be happy if they did that.

Fuck digital downloads, I want my cd's printed and in nice artwork. If acts like Peter Gabriel, Genesis and the Who can release every single concert of their last couple of tours through an online recordlabel and make money on it, I'm sure that a Brian May or Roger Taylor set could also make money. It's just not the kind of money they're used to.

What would you like in a Roger Taylor Anthology?
Probably just one CD and maybe a 16 page booklet.

Thanks. Hearing that there might be a fourth GH album struck me as quite interesting, but a 'Best of Queen' album doesn't interest me. Not if it features only the songs which are on the albums and there isn't any bonus material.

It's common assumption. If Brian was so obsessed about sales figures, why is he the only member of Queen to have taken the chance on a live solo album?
Or, why would he be putting out a book on hundred year old photos that will sell a seriously limited number of copies?

Yeah, I must admit I like the idea of this as well. I've mentioned this before, but the Universal Deluxe series is the benchmark for catalogue releases.
However, to generate sales, the words "Best Of" seem to make all the difference.
