I don't think I was bullying you, if anything you should take it as constructive criticism.  If I was bullying you, I would have given you a nice verbal insult, taken your lunch money and your Queen tape, and been on my way.  I wrote quite a lot JUST FOR YOU!

Be that as it may, I invite you to continue to post and contribute, obviously you DO have something to offer.  But again, my intentions are simply to help you and others communicate better here on Queenzone and "raise the level" a bit.  We've recently seen quite a dip.

I also wanted to be the first to giggle at

sounds interesting, even if Freddie's voice is fucked - sounds like he is smoking cigs and singing at same time!!!

as for sharing it....the trading community relies on lossless copies. so i can't see what harm it would do for you to upload the whole gig as an mp3 file..

Thanks for the share Anthony.

I would not worry about any leagl comeback on your part.
There must be 200 audio concerts here ready for download, shared by average Joe's like you and I.
The whole area of copyright and ownership on unreleased concerts is very grey, and has never led to prosecution
anywhere in the world.

You should take time to consider releasing this audio in full on the net, and maybe in a lossless format.
I would be quite happy to donate a sum to the charity of your choice in return,as would others, i'm sure.
If that is something your not willing to do, you should definitely forward a lossless copy to Greg Brooks, if he is interested in it.

What other info can you share about your recording?
Do you have more than 1 night in Sun City?
Can you confirm which night your sample is from, and provide a set list?
Would you be willing to let us know how (roughly) you got this?

Mark.

he ran off stage the third night crying, but thats about it really.
I didn't know that! What happened to make him do that? I know that in South America he was booed off the stage for wearing women's clothes during IWTBF. Did something similar happen in Sun City?

Well, maybe ran off stage crying is a bit over dramatic, left the stage in tears very early in the set after
his voice broke would be more accurate. The words "left the stage in tears" were used on a RTE news broadcast on circa 8th Oct 1985.

Hers's a quote from queenconcerts.com
Freddie lost his voice after Under Pressure (third song!) and the
concert had to be cancelled. Also the following two gigs (October 9 and
10) had to be cancelled.

As a musician myself, I can definitely understand that.  As musicians who aren't world class, guys like you and I wouldn't want anyone to hear our flaws.  But no concert recording will ruin Queen's legacy in any way.

There are hundreds of concerts already available to download here, so what harm could one more bring?  As far as I know, Brian and Roger don't have any problem with unreleased recordings being shared, as long as nobody is making any money.

The reason why some people were a bit hostile toward you is because countless people in the past have claimed to have a rare recording, and have given every reason in the book not to share it.  I can only hope you will continue with the sharing spirit and upload the rest of the recording for all to enjoy.
having something which Has had special memorys is not allways easy to let go of
I understand.  But you'll still have the memory, my friend.  Nobody can ever take that away from you.  Sharing a recording will only make your memory of the show more accessible to others.

It's gorgeous, stereo sound.  Brian's guitar has rarely sounded better.  Freddie's voice is in fairly good shape for the era.  Thanks for sharing these bits, confirming at long last that a recording does exist.

Some people have 5 concerts on audio from Sun City, if "they" are to be believed. I was offered a 5 pack
of cd's at a stall back in 1995 at a summer music festival here in Ireland. The 5 cd's were taped together
in plain cd covers with no information, other than Queen Sun City 5 nights. The guy at the stall wanted IR£75
for them, a fortune at the time, and would not allow me to open them for inspection before purchase, so I left them.

OOPS!

It is a bit weird that some people who are obsessed with Queen and visit here every day
for years, have had nothing to add here at all. I hope they are not getting too nervous over another one of "their" gems.

City-in-the-Sun, it's probably not Greg Brooks who contacted you, just a person impersonating him. This is his account here - http://queenzone.com/queenzone/profile.aspx?q=32100 , and his last login was 25 feb 09. Be careful and thanks for sharing bits of recording you have.

Hello Sir GH

Thank you for your kind words, i have listened to this recording for so long now that you tend to take it for granted
just how good the Band were ,yes Brians guitar sound was exceptional and few snipets are just the tip of the iceberg .
what i love about these recordings is that you feel you are there right on stage with the guys , johns bass playingwas fantastic as well, such tone and so gentle yet rock solid when needed, ah roger lots of Rotor toms i think.? and some electronic pads going on as well ,i love it when he hits the rims of the tom toms pure power.
I was struck down with such emotion when Brian rose from the smoke after machines intro into tear it up i allways go goose bumps when i here those melodic notes of his lead work, I had an origianal set of Burns Trisonics pickups from the mid 60s which i had to sell when i arrived back in the UK being an out of work Muso I had no choice ,was going to place them in My Strat Damm it.LOL.
So much to talk about im allways glad to talk about equipment ,Live Pa ,Studios,Guitars,Amps, and Classic Cars V8s and anything unusual..
anymore opinions on the sound of the mix would be apreciated and if lots of people want more its maybe possible just one day at a time .
I really would love to here about what sound turns people on as eveybody has different opinions . Through headphones this tape is awesome..
I myself have played at Sun City not in the superbowl , but the Valley of the Waves in crazy Heat.with sand on one side and huge Wave machines crashing down and midnight surfing singing and playing living next door to Alice/shadows/Bad company/Queen etc.(Ahh those where the days) and in our break i would play queen playing the sun city gig and we would all be dancing on the beach in the middle of the night with people surfing in the middle of Africa ...But never once did anyone get my copy Oh No  not untill today ,and i am glad..

Now Thats Magic........
Many Thanks
Anthony...

Hi Anthony

Thanks for letting us know this exists. As everyone here I hope we will be able to hear more:-) I'm sure at least some of us will listen to it as many times as you and enjoy it;-) The sound quality is definetely fantastic so I wonder what it would sound like in its full glory.

Queen is magic indeed and your recording(s) is/are proof of that. As Sir GH says, the fact that more people will get to hear (and have) this will not change anything about the band's legacy nor will it take away your memories. You'll only share your own feelings with more people, which can be fantastic. Not that I want to put you 'under pressure':-)

By the way, I wouldn't be worried about spreading this stuff from a legal point of view either:-)
