Oh come on, I can say in full faith that NOTHING could ever possibly be as bad as Twillight.
I almost gnawed my hand off at the wrist waiting for something to happen.

Done in that godawful Ann Rice style of fluffy collars and deep romanticism, but for 12-yr olds. Awful beyond words.

I fourth that

Even the first Harry Potter movie looks like a filmaking masterpiece compared to Twilight.

Haha Freya, you got a good point there! I gag eveytime I see vampires now....they're ruined thanks to Twilight!!!

Hmmm....I think Mike Newell would be a good pick to direct the last films! Or maybe Alfonso Cuaron!

Now I'm conflicted.. David Yates needs to leave. My least favorite films were Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince.

Fifth.  This 6th one is a good film, well done, left out a few things, of course, but had they not, film would have been 5 hours long.

The movie was good, but not great.  I thought Prof Slughorn was a stitch, Luna was goofy, and Snape was a lot of fun too.  The scene with the house burning was pointless.  I would have to say that this movie was my least favorite of the series thus far.

About the burning of the Burrow... maybe there is a reason for it. Maybe there's some symbolism between that fire early in the film and Dumbledore's phoenix flying off at the end...? Destruction and rebirth. I dunno. Just taking a guess.

Right

I've seen all the films, read none of the books (except the last 20 pages of the 7th one...)

Have no problem with extra scenes - there is a different narrative need for films compared to books.  In the same way that you generally don't have character's thoughts in films - they have to be seen to be TELLING someone.

Overall, though - it did seem like a film that had been ruthlessly edited in order to make room for the "Growing Pains of Ron Weasley" - the only thing missing was his parents trying to explain the facts of life to him.

And some of the special effects were less special - the train home for Xmas, for example.

Well, has anyone seen it, or planning on seeing it? Did you like it?

I saw it yesterday and am still... gathering my thoughts on it. It was the best film so far no doubt, but there was a lot wrong with it.
