It looks like one of those cheap compilation cd's you can buy at groceries, pharmacies and huge supermarketchains which include material by famous artists who had a licensing problem at some point in their career (Genesis, Sparks, The Beach Boys etc) so that almost anyone can put out a CD with tracks by them.

I don't think it's too bad. They could've put the crest in the blank space, though. At least, it's better than another arched over pic of Freddie. [/img]

Well I'm afraid the cover will be more interesting than the musical content of the CD :-)

They should have used some form of branding to keep things consistent. (i.e. the phoenix logo and/or the Queen font/logo.) To me, this looks like a 5 minute job when it's a shame they didn't spend a little more time considering the visual of the packaging. I must agree with the person who posted that this looks like a $9.99 Grocery Store find. For me, the design is sort of a disappointment. Although I do like the photo - haven't seen that one before. Kudos to the one who posted it on QZ.

Yep, I agree with that.

Anyone here actually going to buy it?
Regardless of the quality of the cover, SURELY no one needs to have their all-time greatest 20 hits on another CD, do they?
Would make a nice drinks coaster I guess......

I don't know yet. I'm still trying to persuade myself to buying the single collection box sets.

It's a bizarre release really. Firstly, it's the kind of CD grannies buy for their grandchildren, even when -- especially when -- they have no idea what their grandchildren's taste in music is. Queen greatest hits compilations have become like boxes of chocolate, or socks, or soap -- ideal Xmas presents when you really can't be arsed buying anything with any thought behind it. So what makes this so odd is that Xmas is a long way away, and when that market rolls round, this CD will either be in the bargain bins or gone altogether. It's also been released at the same time as another compilation, the singles box sets: where's the logic in that? Does QP think the market is either so broad that they can infinitely churn out compliations, or is there a select smaller market with bottomless pockets that just loves to hear the same songs, just in a slightly different packaging? And what's with the CD format anyway? Don't they know that CDs are dying a death? Which takes me to the download market: who's going to downlad this album, when all the songs are already available as downloads from previous releases? As for the picture, I agree it looks like one of those CD covers for an interview disc. It might work as the cover for a Queen: the first ten years compilation, but it probably won't appeal to the market this CD is aimed at. But here's the strangest thing about it: QP know that they have a bunch of customers just dying to buy Queen stuff -- us lot. All it would take would be the slightest incentive, some kind of B-Sides bonus disc, like U2 did a while back, for us to buy it. But they haven't even thought of that market. I've given up being angry at Queen (Productions) -- life's too short -- it's much more fun just to laugh at them helplessly floundering around, 20 years behind everyone else, still trying to flog the same old product in the same old format. Bizarre.
