The two head pushers stand coyly in the background? Deacon's gonna be thrilled with the close up of his shoes. Freddie looks fabulous!
Yep, I'll buy it.

This is the worst cover ever.
There's too much grey on the cover and it doesn't mix well with red. The band looks like it's time to go to the laundrymat. The words Absolute Greatest are too big and the font is not right. John looks like he really doesn't want this released. They should have lined up smallest to tallest. Why isn't Paul Rodgers standing behind Freddie with his hand behind his head doing the peace sign?
I can't believe they paid someone to draw this. Maybe they should have had a contest of some kind.

Well, it could be worse!
But I'm quite shocked at the picture selcted! I can't imagine Deaky would want this released, he is like the most "noticeable" one! Brian and Roger are barely seen, which is shocking, I would have thought they would have put one where all 4 members are all clearly seen. I think Freddie is the one that looks best, actually he looks really good and gotta love the 70s shoes :P But I still am shocked about the picture selection, there are so many that are much better from the early 70s, and I am surprised that they picked a picture from so early on. And also their crest/logo is nowhere to be seen...

It's just absurd- the whole thing. I wonder- who got such a "bright" idea of this compilation? It must be the most stupid move in music business. It's so pity that Queen got in this. I like the picture, but it's not a good one for a cover and it won't save them.

Not their worst, but not good either... It's probably better than QRM, Live In Ukraine and the C-Lebrity single :P
Erin's version looks better - just by adding the crest it felt a lot less "empty". And perhaps more Queen-ish too, since that old pic doesn't really suit this kind of release. It would've worked for Greatest Hits, perhaps, back in the 1981, or maybe as some inner pic in the booklet for the Hammersmith' 75 release.
I like the picture although agree it would be better on the inside than on the cover...
.....besides John really looks like camera man was taking too long when he needs to pee :o)
like the idea of an early pic of Queen for the cover though...
Surprised John is the most prominent in the photo...and Brian and Roger just look like they are back up musicians...
I won't be buying it unless they put in some incentive....alternate versions of at least some tracks...i.e. the single version of One Vision without the long intro...(if it even makes the list)....or some new video footage as a bonus...

Unfortunately it isn't a stupid idea in the music "business" because it will sell by the shed load (which QP and its associats will think justifies its release). Unfortunately that's the exact reasoning behind this release - "business", as opposed to artistic merit, musical variation, excitement of fans over new releases etc.. etc..
Unless there's the surprise of bonus unreleased stuff (which there won;t be if we can supposedly guess the tracklisting) then I wont buy it

Do you really think so? See my earlier post: who's going to buy it? I'm genuinely puzzled by this release. It doesn't make much sense in terms of timing or content. I think it'll be in the bargain bins by Xmas.

Queen Productions or whoever is in charge of these pointless releases have been pissing away the Queen legacy for years. Whatever the personal opinons of The Cosmos Rocks at least it was a new product. I gave up on Queen CD releases with the original four when Queen Greatest Hits III emerged with solo material on, do they think we are fucking stupid?!. The Comos Rocks aside which I did buy I gave up with Queen Rocks, I thought the slide was being addressed with the DVD releases but that has stopped no Greatest Video Hits III or 70's releases, but another Q+PR live show DVD

Still staggers me that anyone is surprised by all of this.
We KNOW we're going to get this type of this, year after year, after year. We know that their main focus of interest in terms of product is the casual music buyer. These are the people who will just run around looking for something to buy as a gift and a means to an end. I never really consider this kind of thing "new" product - re-issuing old material already widely available in other formats is NOT new product.
You can't wrap dog shit in paper and call it anything other than dog shit.
The disappointment comes when they FAIL to issue something new or they do and it's sub-standard - QRM running order / cover; lack of follow up to the GVH 1 & 2 DVDs; NO pre-1980 DVDs; no rarities / archive box sets.
We all just have to be a bit more choosy as to how we spend our hard-earned as opposed to buying it because it's Queen.

I still can't see this move neither as art (rediculous thought) nor like business decision. There's no lots of people who could buy it. The reason is very simple, the root of it is in 1981, the name is "Greatest Hits". It was sold long time before, and still available. It's going to have the same content just another cover. Nothing clever in this thing at all

dragon-fly,
Incorrect - Greatest Hits did not feature any music from Hot Space, The Works, A Kind Of Magic, The Miracle, Innuendo or Made In Heaven.
All this release does is to pare-down the three volumes of Greatest Hits into one package, which, should anyone really want to have done that, would already have done by simply ripping the tracks from any of the multiple formats these tracks appear on and creating their own disc on their own PC.
Long and short is there is no decent market within the existing fan base for this. The target is non-Queen fans and casual music buyers.
QPL once again sacrificing the requests of the devoted for the $ from the nobodies.

I have to agree- my bad. Sheer mistake with Greatest Hits. (How that happend?) Ok, it's about The Platinum Collection. Which becomes much shorter. There's enough of "Greatest...." It just confuses people. Still- old news

Only if they already have the package - or else have dopwnloaded the songs.
For the sake of someone who wants to give a 'queen' present to a family member or friend as a gift - to introduce them to Queen, this is a much better option than THREE cds, or choosing one which will only offer part of the collection.
There is nothing wrong with this, and too many people here are whinging for no good reason.
