Very interesting thread. I'm old as dirt and have been here for years in one form or another, but I love hearing how people came to be interested enough in the band to be active in this forum.

Keep posting - I'm still waiting for the person that days "The Cosmos Rocks knocked me on my ass and I figured I'd learn more about this band!"

And why do they beat up on Queen Archivist so much?

If you ever care to wander through his old threads, you'll soon see that he's conducted himself in the poorest manner possible.  (shrugs)  Truth be told though it's been a while since he's really lost it.  I guess for some people the damage is done.

Oh, well thanks for clearing that up. I've been working my way through Brian's Soapbox archives. I'm up to '08 now. I sort of breezed past a lot of the cosmic stuff. Sorry Brian. I have found some cool bits of history and some explanations there, like the one I posted in the beginning of this thread about working with Paul Rodgers on new stuff, which is why I got The Cosmos Rocks and was able to listen to it with a fairly open mind. I heard it almost 3 times over today on the road. It certainly isn't Queen as we knew it, but as I was not expecting that anyway, I liked it for the most part. I won't elaborate here though as there is another thread for that.

I have also tried to use the "Search" feature here instead of asking stupid repetative questions recently too!

BTW Zebonka12, I'd be happy to hear as well from any of you Oldtimers who might not be opposed to "coming
out".

Cacatua -

I LOVE Tom Waits, Swordfishtrombones is one of my favourite albums.  And nice thread by the way.

He's a real case isn't he? It's just so annoying that he won't do any videos though because his performances are priceless. We have a vhs tape of him when he did Austin City Limits on PBS years ago that we taped, and when this tape deck croaks, that will likely be the end of watching it.

Ok....I´m not new at all here..I became a Queenzone member..I think back in 2005 or 2006...I´m 30, and I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a huge... really big Queen fan´s country.
I think every day new people discovers Queen,,,and surfing the net is impossible not to get till this great site, eventough you can find nice, polite o rude people in the forum (as real life) I think this place gives us all a space to share and discuss...new fans are hungry for info, as we all were back in those days in wich we became fans as well, at the very 90´s beginning,  in my case.
Before Internet, we have magazines, discs, cassettes, compact disc, books, tv programs, and fan clubs, nowadays, we have all that on the web..it´s so easy...but can be boring sometimes.
Good music will be always remembered, but divine and amazing music is everyday kept alive!

Cheers to Queenzone, Cheers to you, Cheers to Queen!

Forgive me if this sounds a bit schmaltzy but I guess I've come to think that Queen happened in a place in time like Camelot when these 4 people came together. Whatever might happen now is another animal. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it's not easy to let go of the original and move on. Some people apparently can't or won't. There has been a lot of water under the bridge since Freddie departed though so it's bound to be different. I do think that if Brian and Roger are to continue as Queen then they need to have new members to reform a working unit instead of this Queen + hybrid thing.

I find it somewhat amazing that Brian was doing his thesis AND working on The Cosmos Rocks. Maybe there is an explanation there. Too bad Roger doesn't have a place to spout off like Brian's Soapbox. Not his thing I guess.

OK, I'll try that. Thanks! Hey, keep working on the guitar and piano. If I wasn't so damned old I'd have a go at the guitar, but I've already got too many plates to keep spinning!

I'm 23 year old lawyer (eek, don't say anything) I live in London but I'm originally from Ireland.  I was completely obsessed with Queen from the ages of 11 - 15 but then got into other and what I considered at the time 'cooler' music like the Cure, Nirvana, the Smiths, Velvet Underground, Bowie etc.

Strangely at a particularly stressful point just before I qualified this year, around March, I listened to News Of The World at a friend's house (who I discovered also knew a lot about Queen when they knew who 'Farokh' was) and that reignited my interest, so I put all my studio and live albums onto my ipod and finally read Jim Hutton's book (Im so glad I didn't read that when I was 12!) and re-read Phoebe's (which, incidently I would defend his reasons for writing).

I came across QZ via google and joined. This was something I thought I'd never do, I mean seriously, an internet forum!  However, some of the discussions were so interesting, and some were so infuriating that I couldn't resist.

So, pleased to meet you...

Have you ever been to Community Live Journal - ohnotheydidn't? Now there's a wild forum! You never know what you might see there. They post a lot of moving gifs and clips to illustrate what they have to say. It's a walk on the wild side for me, but I am too technically challenged to contribute there, so I just look through all the wild stuff whenever I get a Google alert on Adam Lambert that takes me there.

I behave slutty, but I'm actually a very shy, romantic, poised and collected girl. I don't eat flesh. Fishes are my favorite animals. I'm basically afraid of Germans, Islamic extremists and anyone who comes my way at night. I like Tennis and swimming. I don't know why I joined the website. It's been a year or so. I like Queen. But then there are plenty of Queen-related websites. When I'm sad I try dividing the length of my shadow by my height in the hope of finding where I stand in the Cosmos.

I'm sleepy and can't spell the name of whom started the thread anymore but I do remember the avatar looks like a bird.

Welcome to the website. I wish you a rewarding experience on Queenzone.

I love you, the thread, the Queenzoners and the world in general with some few exceptions.

It's probably time for me to go to bed.

Yes, Angelina, the gig in Caracas is for real and Brian was ridiculously on fire. Listen to him playing Let Me Entertain You and pay attention to the way he squarely chases or "goes after" Freddie's vocals almost pitch by pitch without going even slightly off-tempo.

Shame, shame on me but I have actually been to the community live journal.  But i'm not really into slash - I find it a bit odd.

I haven't listened to the Cosmos Rocks - not because I'm assuming it'll be rubbish, just because I don't want to - for the same reason I i'm reluctant to see Bob Dylan or the Rolling Stones live, I'm worried i'll hate it and Brain and Rog will be tarnished for me.  Also I think in the context of 'today's' music there's so much better.  When I listen to any given Queen album I always contextualize it a bit, imagine what was going on in the world at the time.

I am luxury turbines. Cannot move for filthy gertrudes where I come from!!! LOLZ!!!
I come to Quweenzones to be insulted??? No, I come to the Qwenzone to talk with fellow Freddie, but he not here. How rude!!!! If I had forum dedication to my band, I would definitely be a member. I want Freddie's member!!!
I long for Qwenzone membership friends and will rub tackle and grease palms to talk with you about Qwen. My favourite Qwwwwwwewn album is probaly Hot Space or Made In Heaven as these are the only albums I have ever boughts.
