Shame, shame on me but I have actually been to the community live journal.  But i'm not really into slash - I find it a bit odd.

I haven't listened to the Cosmos Rocks - not because I'm assuming it'll be rubbish, just because I don't want to - for the same reason I i'm reluctant to see Bob Dylan or the Rolling Stones live, I'm worried i'll hate it and Brain and Rog will be tarnished for me.  Also I think in the context of 'today's' music there's so much better.  When I listen to any given Queen album I always contextualize it a bit, imagine what was going on in the world at the time.

There's bound to a difference in the way we feel about it just from our age difference alone, but I know where you are coming from about seeing the guys now as opposed to where they were 30 years ago. I can't really imagine Freddie doing his performances now in his 60's if he were alive and they were still going, but then Queen seemed to evolve as time changed, so the performance itself would have had to change. You are young and full of energy, but the older you get the more effort it takes to do the same things, and you are much more likely to get injured from doing them as well - even small things that one wouldn't see coming. It's really very annoying to age!

As to community live journal, I just find the sheer creative snark to be entertaining - perhaps more so because I am just a voyeur.

Are you moldy oldies like me (59) or somewhere in between? Where are you from? I've noticed that

Did you ever visit a Queen / Queen related concert?
If so: did you make any photos / audio / video recordings?

Sorry, no. Someone once posted a good review of a Queen concert at Hilton Colliseum in Ames, Iowa back in 1980 I think. My back yard. I was chained to a workbench back then. The house could have fallen in and I wouldn't have noticed. Wish I could go back. I was to only one concert there at Hilton and the sound was so bad, echoing and reverberating, that I swore I'd never go there again anyway.

We even went once to hear Bob Dylan at the neighboring smaller CY Stevens Auditorium, thinking that would have to be good. Not so! Huge banks of amplifiers that about made your ears bleed. Dylan stood there in front, backlit, with his head sort of down. It could have been anyone and we wouldn't have known the difference. He didn't sing any oldies and we weren't familiar with his new stuff, so we only heard a wall of noise. Total bummer. Swore we would never attend a live concert anywhere again, and have only once, but it was outdoors, and a smaller deal anyway.

I'm a fairly new fan myself I started getting into Queen in about 2001 I'd say.  Though I didn't buy my first Queen item till late 2006 which was the GH volume 1 cd I'd been aware of songs like We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions cos of sporting events and Another One Bites The Dust cos of Gladiators lol.  But I didn't know they were Queen songs till about 2001 lol bad I know but better late than never eh ?  I did know Bohemian Rhapsody and Radio Gaga as Queen songs ever since I was a kid though.

Anyways that's my story lol

I just want to thank all of the brave souls who come out from behind their avatars and screen names here. I thought it might help to make for a little more civility if we know a little bit about each other. But I don't suppose it is for everyone.

I have been a Queen fan since 1980, I live in Moose Jaw, Sask, Canada. I'm 45 and my first Queen exposure was Another One Bites the Dust. The very first Queen album I bought was the Game. I looked for other Queen albums after that, my faves are the mid to late 70's albums.. from Sheer Heart Attack on to Live Killers. I do have some other Queen sites bookmarked--Queenoline, Shane's Queen site(its pretty good). I found this forum a few months ago.. its been pretty good so far.

Moose Jaw? I had to look that one up. North of the eastern end of Montana a bit. I don't have all the albums yet, but will have them all in the near future. I was working my way upward through the years, but then I jumped ahead to Innuendo. A number of the songs are on the various Hits and Classics collections, but there are so many other little gems on the individual albums. I don't know if I've been to Shane's Queen site or not, but there are certainly some good ones around.

Nice to meet you too!

This is an interesting thread!  I'm from Ireland and am in my mid 20s but have only been listening to Queen for a few years.  When i 'discovered' them I fell in love with them and am trying to build up a collection of all their work.  I haven't been posting here for too long - since sometime last year i think?  I had popped in occasionally over the last few years but hadn't posted before.  I don;t know what started me posting, think I just needed to be able to talk about Queen/music without being thought strange!

An addiction is a terrible thing. ;o) When I begin to tell him something else about Queen, my husband gets this look on his face.....................On the other hand he did wear his Queen T-shirt that I got him (like mine) when we went riding off to a car show today.

I'm going to bite too.

I'm not new to this site at all (joined back in 2003, I believe).  I'm 20 and live in PA, USA.  I became familiar with Queen the old fashioned way.  In July of 2003, I heard We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions on the radio and about a day later, on the same radio station, Bohemian Rhapsody.  To my surprise, after asking some friends, the three songs were all the same rock band -- up until this point I had never even heard of Queen.  That summer I bought Queen Greatest Hits (Hollywood) and listened to it non-stop -- and then bought Classic Queen.  From that point on I became a collector of their music and memorabelia.  CDs, shirts, posters. books, stickers, hats, LPs, DVDs, ... I never seem to get tired of their music and even have the Queen phoenix tattooed on my back.  I'm pretty damn sure I'm a fan for life.  I wouldn't want it any other way!

This is a dear, lovely and sweet lad. He's one of Queenzone's gems. Many of the most interesting threads were started by him and he has this wonderful quality of cleverly making his point while accepting disagreement as part of life. To sum up: a kind, thoughtful and civilized lad in this jungle. I never regret taking my time to read what he writes.

A lovely, lovely lad. One of these people who keep me from being an absolutely helpless and desperate nihilist.
