Personally, I think those who consider Queen overrated are those who take music in general a little too seriously in the first place. Because of the band's tendency to be diverse their and massive catalogue of 'novelty' songs (Bohemian Rhapsody, Rock You, Champions, Dust, etc.), said people could never view them as a 'serious' band with 'serious' music. Additionally, Queen cop a lot of undeserved slack from certain people because of their enormous popularity, which they feel shouldn't go hand-in-hand with 'silly' hits like Bicycle Race or The Miracle.

Queen over rated? If anything they are disrespected and not given enough airplay here in the States. We're force fed the Beatles, Stones, Pink Floyd, and others no where near the stature and talent of Queen.
I guess we have a completely different perspective here in England: they are played a lot, VH1 has queen days, every Christmas party, hen night or disco has don't stop me now as the playlist.  They really are, as Brian (or was it Roger?) once said, part of the furniture.

They're played here in Canada with some regularity on my small city's local stations and on satellite, but not with any depth.  It's the same six or so songs, and 'Don't Stop Me Now' isn't one of them.  It's Bo Rhap, Rock You/Champions, Another One Bites the Dust , You're My Best Friend and Somebody to Love.  Very rarely on satellite I'll get Fat Bottomed Girls, Tie Your Mother Down or I Want to Break Free. And that's about it.

This thread is turning to nonsense, fast.  Whether they are overrated or underrated is purely a perception and is based on where you are, and what demographic of people you are quizzing.  On this page of the thread alone they are being at once overrated and underrated, if you want to look at it that way.

I wont lose any sleep over this, music is all down to personal taste but when the great bands of the last 40years are talked about.Queen will be right up there and their record sales ,classic concerts will make sure that they will go down in history as one of the very best.[/img]

Technically, they already have.  This is inspite of rediculous articles trying to persuade us otherwise.  I'm not worried either.

Clearly this was a test.

It's a trick question- Queen IS one of the most over-rated artits ever.

Artits...

Yeah, in that category, Fred's bust just doesn't measure up.
