The songs has some really strong moments. Unfortunately for a person who is not a native english speaker it's a huge problem to understand the lyrics, so I can only guess what the song is about (well definitely about Afghanistan) so I can't comment on that part.

After listening to it I feel sorry that Freddie's dead, this song needs his input (like Ga Ga and Magic).

The video is one huge mess. It reminds me on Alf's musical video ("You're the one who's out of this world sweet baby")

Here, they might be easier to read: (I nicked these off of the queenonline forum, where I don't exist, and gave the song a listen and tweaked it a bit)

God would weep if He existed
and He saw what men can do to men
He'd think that we were twisted
His unblinking eye would blink and then
He'd say not in my name you don't
you stupid little men
with your arrogance and ignorance
you do it time and time again

And I, I must be gettin' old
There's a fire and a fury driven deep into my soul
It's the helplessness that comes from being under your control
and everything is broken

We've got a High street full of holes
the High street's full of holes
High street's full of holes

Five million cameras stare at us
you treat us like we're fools
Our privacy is meaningless
we're suffocated by ten thousand rules
And this kingdom's not united
just a complicated mess
Are we in europe? Half in europe? Not in europe?
We're soulless, spineless, directionless

And I, I must be getting old
There's a fire and a fury driven deep into my soul
It's the helplessness that comes from being under your control
And everything is broken.

Stylophone!

And everything is broken

Why send our young men out to die
in wars that we don't understand?
And why on earth should we be meddling in places like Afghanistan?
The price is much too high
in terms of money or our precious men
Your reasons are mysterious
and quite beyond our ken

And I, I must be getting old
There's a fire and a fury driven deep into my soul
It's the helplessness that comes, you even sold our gold
And everything is broken

Except for the 'High street full of holes'  the lyrics are basically a very non-metaphorical lament on human behaviour  generally and the state of things in the United Kingdom specifically as Roger sees them.  There is dissatisfaction with the government, particularly its intrustion into private lives, and with the war in Afghanistan. The cameras are a literal reference to controversial security cameras in many public spaces there.   The "Stylophone!" exclamation introduces the instrument as it beings to be heard in the song.

Perhaps people who experience UK life first hand can explain more.

Oh, it's not just me then. I don't know at this point if I've bought it or not. It hasn't shown up anywhere, nor have I gotten a receipt. I have no idea.............

Condolences

Edit: It just occurred to me that this is prophetic - "Everything Is Broken"

This track is just more proof that Roger and Brian should continue doing what they do in whatever form that may be. This track is genius. Roger's solo stuff (and The Cross's 2nd and 3rd albums) are sheer genius. If you hear when Brian joined the Cross onstage in bootlegs, it makes me think that they could have formed some new band (whether as Queen or not, not trying to start debate here). Roger and Brian could have shared vocals with a great live band. As proof, go on youtube and look for "Lucille" by Roger and The Cross with Brian onstage. It blew my mind! Seriously!
And the first line of "Eye" set the tone perfectly for the rest of the song! Great work, Rog!

Nice track. Not the kind of track I hoped, but still quite cool. Would be nice to see this on an album, along with some other new tracks. I'd love to hear a version of Small with Roger on vocals!

I like it as well. Maybe Roger could have named it "A Nation of Happiness"? :)

I agree - it would be good if they could shake off the Queen tag (as Brian stated for years that he wanted to do) and just form a new band.

Look at:  Duff, Matt and Slash in Velvet Revolver without becoming a GnR tribute
Dave Grohl with Foo Fighters (some kids even don't know of Nirvana!)
John Paul Jones and Dave Grohl (Again!) with Them Crooked Vultures.

If artists call their project a new name and form it with other musicians, they have every chance of it being treated as a seperate entity, even when their previous bands were as huge as Guns n Roses, Nirvana and even Led Zep.

Yeah, I see what you mean, I also have a bit of that feeling. But, hey, what about those that have had a fairytale life and don't bother to discuss the problems of the world? ;)

So, Mooghead, if you're rich, does that mean that you have no right to be upset and angry with how things are?  If that's the case, wouldn't that a rich person arrogant and uncaring about those who don't have the welath they have?
BTW, your comment about the avatar face if Michael "bummed" you was splendid.   Top marks for that!
I'm in agreement with Paul on this one.  It's OK, listenable, but I wouldn't place it naywhere near the top of Roger's works.  Also, perhaps the production isn't as great as it could be?  Maybe Roger's vocals are too loud?  Or, perhaps, his voice is not as good as it once was.
And, even though I agree with the message s communicated in the song, I'm a bit tired of these songs from Roger.  I'd love another Strange Frontier.
Or, perhaps I need to get a grip on my verisimilitude.

That  "Order status: sent.for.package" bit of the track is something special in whole Roger's solo career.

I thought the first 3 minutes of The Unblinking Eye were excellant, but boy it goes down hill very quickly after that !!! Good to see that Roger is at least making some new tunes for us to enjoy !?!
