I am not blaming the referee- there are many reasons why the German team lost. Badstuber could not control Krasic at all, Podolsky did not score although he had many compelling chances, even a penalty (!), and the whole team could not adjust to the Serbian strategy. They let the Serbs dictate the match. Now we have a very dangerous situation and the team just has to win vs Ghana in order to avoid to be sent home early.

It's incredible how many of the superpowers have not been stepping up to the plate - Spain, France, England, and now Germany. They have a combined four points.

Never learn, do they? When in the game do you think he'll have his customary rush of blood to the head? 70 minutes? Just before the end, so that England won't have time to come back? Joe Hart is the best goalie in England and should be playing. If you're good enough, you're old enough ... reply: the best English goalie wasnt even selected.Did you not see Jamie Theakston in the Sport Aid game? :-p why do I have a feeling i am gonna be swearing at the tv and barred from the pub come 9.30 UK time tonight... :-s

Slovenia 2 USA 2
The USA should have won that last match 3 - 2. Robbed by another dodgy referee......

I wanted Germany to win and really think they deserved it today - they were able to hold back the Serbian offensive for almost the entire match despite being outnumembered. Serbia did have some good chances of scoring their second goal, but so did Germany of scoring their first, even though with only 11 players on the field.
It's still possible for them to close out the first round in first place, though!

I'm probably the only one who thinks Klose deserved to be send off. Especially his second booking was really stupid. He should have thought twice. Pure frustration, I reckon.
I keep my fingers crossed for tomorrow's match, Holland versus Japan.

sooooooooooooo, where do you want to start with this England team then? biggest bunch of wet farts i've seen in years, gonna get mullered if they ever get to play a decent team.useless overpaid twats!
Mr Mercury · Member since
They werent good enough to be wet farts either - they couldnt muster the thought or technique for it anyway.......
2 points from 2 games against teams they should have thrashed is just not good enough. If they go out next week, they have no excuses....
I have to laugh at Wayne Looney - sorry - Rooney's comment after the match when the fans started booing the team. "Nice to hear your own fans booing you, that's loyal supporters."
Way to go Looney.........

I don't know why you think England should have thrashed the USA (ranked 14 in the world) and Algeria (ranked 30). These teams qualified because they are decent sides, and England have no divine right to beat them or anyone else. Slovenia are also a good side, and they qualified ahead of Poland and the Czech Republic. Gerrard saying that the game was Algeria's world cup final was the height of arrogance -- no wonder he's disliked everywhere except the land of home perms. As for Rooney, his money has insulated him from the real world where England fans pay a month's wages or more to travel to South Africa and have every right to boo £40k a week footballers who play like a pub team.

Holly, I am not knocking those two teams. Far from it actually. My point is that England does have the players who should be able to thrash those teams. But they didnt because they played, in the two matches so far, like a first division side.
Gerrard's comment has also astounded me. If only he (and the rest of the team) had that mentality they might have done better.

^exactly! any team that was beaten 3-0 two weeks ago by the Irish should be getting beat by a team of millionaire premiership players. They cant blame it on the league either as 90% of the other teams players play in it too! drop Rooney,Heskey,Cole and Lampard from the team for the next game, bring in Defoe,Crouch,Warnock and Joe Cole. i would also drop Johnson too but now carragher is out of the next match he has to stay in the team. im still seething over that performance, they should be ashamed of themselves for that display!

Again a difficult match, but "we" managed to win. Not bad.
