I always like it when people from different backgrounds join forces to create something new.  Good on them.

Really?  You're not very discerning then. If I were a great artist I'd understand that some fans are uninterested in lettting me off for anything less than greatness.  I deeply admire and deeply respect Brian May et al and am unwilling to politely applaud doddering around with unremarkable projects simply because they've "joined forces".
To clarify, I meant I like the idea of someone doing that.  Of course I didn't intend to say I automatically like the resulting music.  The idea on paper and the resulting music naturally are two different things.
Of course you didn't intend to say that.  It's clear you care about quality.  "Will always be pleased" and "can never be pleased" are equally useless and equally transparently dumb things to imply about fellow music fans.

Brian is so fired up about the plight of wild creatures that I emailed him and told him that he had written great anthems like WWRY and IWIA and now he should write one for wildlife as long as he is putting himself out there in their defense anyway. Seems like a marriage made in heaven, though not much for you folks who care nothing about such things.

Apparently he didn't exactly jump for joy at the thought  and email me back, so I think you all are safe from having to comment about such a thing.  ;o)

This is a nutty thread.  A couple of people say they're not feeling the Kerry Ellis thing and that gets extrapolated all over the place. LOL Who doesn't care about animals now?  I care about animals a lot. Certainly enough to wish Brian was serving up a few less plates of steaming crazy on the subject.

As a personal philosophy "I want it all and I want it now" should have stayed between Anita and her bathroom mirror or whatever.  Nothing worth making immortal through song IMO.

I'm neutral about this song, but IWIA? IMO it remains among Queen's very best hard rock songs. A masterpiece. :D

As much as I'm sure he could write a Badger song, the world really does not need another "The Call".  I loved the recording, but the lyrics were a clear example of when the song takes a back seat to the message.  Some people can do the preachy thing - Brian can't.  I make "White Man" the exception because the lyrics were way more thoughtful.  It mightn't be everyone's favourite track but at least it doesn't sound like he wrote the whole thing with a rhyming dictionary.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply ALL of you, but there are ones here who complain about Brian being involved with wildlife as though he has no right to be into anything but music. I thought he at least could combine that passion with his musical talent and channel it into something really good, rather than just standing around a meeting hall for a day, being seen. Then he could sell it to those who do care and put the proceeds back into the cause. I think it would be great to have someone of his stature champion the wild kingdom with a great anthem.

I love IWIA! I don't care if it  came from Anita. That's another matter.

Not just a local-specific badger song but something on a global scale. He said he didn't necessarily buy the global warming theory, but thought it distracted people from other things like the plight of wildlife, as in everywhere.

The Call?

Which song is that? Is that a song he did with Taylor/Rodgers for 46664?

The riff at 4:13 is not Brian's.  It's a cover of a top 20 hit from 2006.

Good point. I need to get rid of my Judas priest collection and listen to more boybands... :)

Cacatua, I really believe that's it not at all his involvement with animal issues that people roll their eyes at.   It's the megalomaniacal and nearly reason free approach that really, really throws up barriers between his passion and the people he'd presumably like to motivate. We all suffer from a lack of perfect self awareness to a degree, but Brian has really taken it to a whole new level.

Cachet? Yeah, he can be kind of insufferable at times.
Z, do you wish to elaborate on The Call.

Don't blame me for your aggressive spellchecking of my posts Cachet. You'll see my original was correct. ;)

The last two points are.  I'm just doing a commentary on the fact that there are people who condemn any Queen or Brian-related project to the point that it's almost funny because they're the same people who are complaining about the boys not being busy enough to the degree that they, the fans, would like them to be.  And once they get busy, they find something else to complain about. Oh go piss in your hat.

There are people who moan about everything, and there are others who point out Greg Brooks' arrogance or Queen Productions rip-offs, or Brian May's hypocrisy, and others who just want to talk about music and others who share music etc. If all you want is gushing praise, go to Queen Online and you can read how GREAT! everything is.

I agree with Holly.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

Do you mean that Brian isn't really as humble as he makes himself out to be?   ;o)  Even I, stepford that I am, can see that.

The funny part about going to Queen Online is that if you try to register they ignore you, or are disfunctional, or whatever.
