All we need is Session 2 in FLAC, and we're completely set*
*Well, complete if John has a lossless copy of "Ogre Battle" with the intro intact :-)

A strange thing: 'We Will Rock You' - the fast section, as officially released on that Sun promo CD, sounds a bit 'Alvin and the Chipmunks'. I checked it and it plays in F sharp major. One would more usually expect it in E major. So I slowed it down about 10 per cent to round about E major and it sounded too slow. So, I tried a really wacky one - F major, in between the two but a very odd key to play the song is (Brian tends to write in 'guitarist's keys' such as A, D and E)... and that fits. Even the drums sound exactly the same as the drums on the rest of the sessions, but the real give away is the voices. So, my guess is they recorded in F (for reasons best known to themselves) then sped it up a semi-tone to make it more 'peppy'. Brian says they sometimes did this - he cited the studio version of 'Another One Bites the Dust' as an example... so, if you want to hear it in the key Queen actually played it in, slow it down about 5 per cent.
Oh, and thank you Pittrek. Thank you so much.

Thank you very much! This is awesome! I've been wanting to hear this version of Spread Your Wings in good quality for such a long time.

Spread Your Wings here is better than the album version IMO. Like most of these BBC versions it gives the song a new rawness... but defintely more so with SYW. Can't choose between SYW and WQ for my favourite.
