It's just a few assholes who can't handle this discussion board speaking about a band other than Queen.

BTW, per Eric Singer, they rehearsed "Beth" that same day at soundcheck and decided to perform it that night at the last moment. Sounded great and the audience loved it. ============================
Which was it? Were the audience loving it or off peeing? Perhaps you could try to be consisent with yourself on the same thread. Even I know how that song cleaved the KISS Army (LOL) in two over the Eric Carr version. It's a hugely signifcant song for fans and the fact that the audience would predictably swoon and go nuts makes it even more of a joke/slap in the face that they'd pull what they did. And get real, wise up and spit out the Kool-Aid. It was a terrible, wooden, dull performance of that song by a band who will proudly tell anyone they formed a group for the sole purpose of getting laid. And they've been fucking everybody ever since with nonsense like this.
The audience was cheering and singing along.
I think the song sucks due to Peter Criss, but I think that Eric Singer's vocals and the band's rearrangement of the song were very good.
There was no uprising over Eric Carr singing "Beth". He sang the song better than Peter Criss. Eric Carr didn't even want to sing it. The re-record was done just to give Peter Criss one last bitch slap.
You think Eric Singer's performance was terrible? The audience didn't.
You're not a fan. Why would you care?

Well...I was in the audience and BETH was clearly the song which was most appreciated by the audience!
@ Skip: If you are interested I could send it as an mp3 file to you, I bought the gig as mp3 on a USB stick after the show.

You probably think the song sucks because it's a nice song about a girl. It would likely be your favourite song if it was callled 'C**t' instead of 'Beth'.
C**T by Skip Stanley-Simmons
"C**t" I hear you callin' But I just don't give a shit Me and the boys are playin' And you better get used to iiiiiiiiiiiittt
OK I just made myself laugh with that. Please, somebody take the next verse. lol lol
And it's true that I'm not a fan, but at some point in the 90's I made the mistake of buying Smashes, Thrashes & Hits and I intend to stomp, whine, complain, howl and even seize if necessary over tangentially related matters until I feel that I have extracted my $14.99 from the great karmic wheel of life.

Nobody will play with me! Fine.
Just a few more hours And I'll be back home for food Meet you in the kitchen Hey c**t, expect you nude c**t expect you nude
Maybe I'll finish it, maybe I wont. ;)

Thank you for your offer. No need to send me the mp3. Thanks anyway.

Do you even know who "Beth" is and what the song is really about?

Andreas' första språk är svenska.
That's why his English isn't exactly accurate (though I can still read it).

No, it's about your reading comprehension skills. Nobody has a problem discussing any subject matter at this forum - the PERSONAL forum. Kiss discussions are welcome, along with discussions about Gary Glitter, politics, religion, or what you had for dinner last night. The only problem people have is when you start Kiss threads in the Queen section. Do you not notice that you're the only person to initiate non-Queen threads in the Queen sections of the forum?
For the record, Eric Singer's version of Beth was shit. If he's not ready to sing this great song and do it the justice it deserves, then he shouldn't sing it. There should be no excuses as a professional musician.

Funnily enough, I do! Alhough it's commonly thought that Gene Simmons' role in 'Beth' was limited to changing the name from 'Beck' in what was essentially a Peter Criss song, Simmons in fact co-wrote it with Paul Stanely. The character 'Beth' is symbolic of actual musical talent, and although it does try to ring them up in 1972 or so they never actually pick up the phone. The brilliant tension-release set up with 'What can I do?, what can I do?' is resolved in exquisite Greek tragedy when they decide to leave musical talent forever lonely (though they do hope it will be alright) and become shameless merchandisers to an army of perfect suckers. Overall, a very underrated work.

To be fair, skip hasn't done that in a while. But when he did, it set the whole topic up as spam and some of us are still in that gear. It will take a while to reset. And even then it's hard not to make fun of KISS a little bit. It's catnip.
To your latter point: If skip is not just taking a deliberate supportive position for it's own sake, there is deep denial and tremendous Kool-Aid chugging going on.
And I'm pretty sure skip had kittens for dinner last night. Or possibly baby pandas.

Too bad. Don't read my posts. Change your maxipad. It's obvious you're having a heavy flow day.
"Beth" is nothing but a piss break song. If you don't need to piss, then go get another beer. You think it's a great song. That says all I need to know about you.
Eric Singer sings the song in key, something that Peter Criss could never do.
BTW, go watch "Beth" - Dynasty tour 1979 - Largo and see how a professional sings "Beth". You'll find it on youtube. Peter Criss was fired as soon as that tour was over.
