Actually the term "l.p." is far more logical because it explains how many songs are the release more or less (as affer to an "e.p." or "single") and more or less tells the running time.
Also it actually is important to call "music videos" "short promotional films" as that is more acurate than "music video" because there is another commerical product called the "music home video". So it helps distinguish what these two things are more exactly. If someone says Queen are releasing a video next week you don't know if they mean a "short promotional film" or "music home video" which could be d.v.d, v.hs., a compilation, a concert, a documentary, or long film (and all of the possibilities with that).[/QUOTE]
======
I know what all the terms mean, I'm just pointing out that there are generational or cultural differences ('80s MTV culture). If you said to me, "Did you see the video for 'Headlong'?" I'd know what you're talking about. If you said, "Did you see the 'Don't Stop Me Now' promo film?" I'd think, "he's talking about the music video." It's just my term of reference, but I'd still know what you meant.
Now, if you said, "Check out the 'Innuendo' promo," I'd ask for clarification. Do you mean one of the versions of the music video or you talking talking about the Press Kit footage?
It's an imprecise language sometimes, so I find it best to be as detailed and specific as to what I'm talking about: "The 'Days Of Our Lives' video as it appears on the US Classic Queen VHS." So that the multiple points of reference, even if not all the terms are shared by every reader, should direct them to what I'm referring to.
And since Queen refer to them as "videos" as often as not in commentaries and packaging (Greatest Video Hits 1 & 2), it seems neither term is more correct (Greatest Flix). So it comes down to personal preference, with an effort to be clear about what we're talking about.
Dish Soap or Washing Up Liquid? Torch & Flashlight? Vacuum or Hoover? TV or Telly (Tele?)? Ain't the English language wonderous in its diversity? :-)

Washing up liquid? Is that a real term? That's way too many syllables. Get it together UK! :)

I know "washing up liquid" is used in Ireland, as I had an Irish housemate in university. We were doing dishes and she asked for the washing up liquid...
Me: "The what now?"
Her: "The washing up liquid!" (points to the bottle)
Me: "The dish soap?" (handing it to her)
Other roommate (to her): "Wait, what did you call it?"
Her: "Washing up liquid! What do you call it?"
Us: "Uh, Dish Soap!"
Her: "That's strange. Dish. Soap? Nah, it's washing up liquid. For, like, when you're washing up."
Me: "Doing the dishes?"
Her: (laughing) "You guys are SO mental! 'Doing the dishes,' 'dish soap...'"
Other roommate: "Wash-ing Up Li-Quid: 5 syllables. Dish Soap: 2 syllables. We win!"
Her: "Quiet you!" (throws soapy sponge at his head)

'Dish soap' sound like sex lube.

Exactly. Why do you think it's called "doing the dishes"? "Washing up liquid" sounds like you've already done it at the dinner table with the cat watching.

remember this?
Checking BBC Ceefax to see if Queen will be in the next TOTP2 to record it on VHS!
This is how I got to see the WATC alternate BBC version. Which was in fact of much better quality than the original video!!

I'd like to have some evidence of existence of Innuendo 'Nazi' video. Actually no-one ever heard of this promo version, except for ghostwithasmile, so I think that there's some kind of mistake.

ghostwithasmile, did they actually release that version? It does not sound like a thing most tv stations would put on.
