At various points in the montage, such as 1:22, 2:41, 2:52, and 3:00, there is footage from 1977. It's not from Earls Court (at least not the first night), so which concert is it from? Or are they out-takes from the Tie Your Mother Down video shoot?
This one puzzles me now as it did when I first saw it 15 years ago.

Never questioned this before, I always assumed they were from the video shoot. After watching again though Brian is in a different outfit to the official video.
Looks like its shot on film rather than video.
Wonder if someone will give us an answer?

There was always a little story (folklore?) and it was discussed here before the story is during the ADATR tour in the USA an audience memeber filmed the almost complete show, but near the end he was captured by the security. Which handed the film over to crew memebers of the band...now the story mentions that Freddie watched the complete film after the show.
Rumours say that the taper did make another film a few shows before or after this one.
Maybe some one could find the topic it was discussed overhere serveral times...
The point is I do believe it is a 8mm amateur shot... Now it is known that Queen used amateur footage before :like the jim jenkins video of fred throwing banana's in the audience during the crazy tour.
But I haven;t got any idea which date this could be...search for the topic....
Damn the Munich , I saw it in a second..... wished I read that topic earlier....

It was 1977 and there was no endless video tapes existing. If someone filmed on 8mm, he had to change the cassette after 3 Minutes...it would have cost a little fortune - apart from the problem to get all that stuff into the concert hall. And being captured by the security would no way lead to "Freddie watching the complete film after the show". Impossible - cause the 8mm films needed chemical processing before anyone could see anything...

For all those peeps who think I don't give anything back to this forum and don't answer any questions, apart from the easiest ones, I will share this info, as no one else has offered their opinion. Now I was of the impression that most people knew about this recording and it had been shared between collector's in recent years. I got a copy of this version of 'Tie Your Mother Down' from a keen video footage collector when I worked at the hotel with Peter 'Feebie' Freestone at the end of the '90's. I'm sure there are others out there who have this footage, I wouldn't of been the only one to of traded for this. Although it is of poor quality and has very low sound, it was indeed filmed by an 8mm camera. Unfortunately the film is cut off before the song has finished so unfortunately you don't get the full version.
I'm afraid to ask, but ... how do you know it ? :-)

The footage appears to be from the Tie Your Mother Down Video Shoot but I'm not entirely sure

I dont mean to sound ungreatful GT, but the info you have provided is hardly a revelation. Can you not tell us where the footage comes from? Or if any more is available?
Oh, and are all 3 nights of Paris '79 multi-cam? If not, are any of the 3 nights multi-cam (full show)? If you are not allowed answer the question can you at least let us know that.
Thanks

GT - truly, we are eternally grateful. You've performed a wonderful service for this forum.
Now, whilst you're in the mood.........
Why have QPL not approached a certain collector to obtain the Hangman acetate?

Fantastic, thanks for the info, Gary. Now this is the kind of correspondence we need to have here .. a new revelation now and then is what makes this a great place to be.
Any chance you or someone else could post the song in mpeg format or something of that ilk? It'd be great to see (and hear) the few minutes in their entirety.
