Because they don't have the multi-tracks. They want the bonus tracks to sound outstanding, and a stereo master isn't good enough.
>Honestly, who do they think they are making happy with these tracks?
Just about everyone, actually. 99% of the record-buying public will find most of these tracks to be new.
They need to balance the hardcore fans with the general public, and I think they have achieved that balance perfectly with these releases. Just look at this:
Don't Stop Me Now (With Long-Lost Guitars) Dreamers Ball (Early Acoustic Take, August 1978) Sail Away Sweet Sister (Take 1 With Guide Vocal, February 1980) It's A Beautiful Day (Original Spontaneous Idea, April 1980) The Hero (October 1980... Revisited) The Kiss (Early Version, March 1980) Football Fight (Early Version, No Synths! - February 1980)
This is the kind of stuff people have been begging to hear for years and years, and yet the same people complain because it's not enough. Hence the ashes comment. Some people can just never be pleased.

I agree with SirGH. Some of these bonuses sound great!
In the band's eyes, we *SHOULDN'T & DON'T* have all the demos, live tracks and BBC recordings that have just been bootlegged. Also, all of these things will be in FAR GREATER quality than we've heard before. I can see about 15 things on the list that are going to be new or at least substantial quality upgrades to what we already have. That ain't half bad considering they've got to cater for everyone with these bonus EPs.
So they included a couple of previously released live tracks. Who cares? No-one is forcing you to buy these. If you only want 1 or 2 bonus tracks, get 'em from iTunes.
The Flash Gordon bonuses are much more interesting than I expected, but the Hot Space EP looks a little lacklustre IMO.

I agree with Bob. A very good selection indeed. Don't forget Action This Day from Tokyo 1982. That one is new as well!

One can't react to every member, unless one has 24/7 free time. What makes you think Silver Salmon is a Staffel song? I have never heard this before.

I've heard this rumour before as well. Never paid much attention. Honestly, there's no way we could know for sure, is there?

By the way, both QueenVault and QueenPedia list the track as "Written by Tim Staffel", so maybe...

I hardly believe they don't have the multitracks. if they don't, than why did they release Now I'm Here and I'm In Love With my Car from that gig? I'm sure they're just using excuses. But then again, they may be just saving all this great stuff for a live album...but i doubt it.
Ok studio wise, there a pretty good choices, but live wise, it sucks...the only good track is SHA from Paris. Action This Day from Tokyo 1982 is a stupid choice because that was one of the worst performances of the song.

It would have been much better if they'd released the show in its entirety on DVD, but that's the way the story goes...

Very "sexy" version. Freddie's Eb5 at 2:33 is unbelievable!
