Queenman!! wrote: Hey Guys,
What to you expect to see from the second disc?
- A Friday concert ( with three camera angles focussing mainly on Freddie)? As we have seen on the original DVD - Secretly filmed Rehearal footage? ( is this the same tape that was found in a shoebox in a garage or car? As we have see on the orginal DVD - The Wembley Weekend? Could this be the same scenes from 'Brian and Roger' that were on the orginal DVD? I love to see the complete backstage footage of Wembley, Knebworth and Mannheim shot by the Torpedo clowns. They probably save the Budapest footage for a later release DVD.
There are obvious reasons why QP didn't release the Friday concert in the past. Though according to Gregsynths the overall concert is much better than the day after. ===================================
The band are more relaxed and tighter-sounding on the first night! Plus, Freddie sounds better! You are correct!

Simply because it's got bored to watch the Saturday concert as we've been watching it since 1992 (when it was first released). Now we can finally be enjoyed by the complete Friday concert. Can't wait 'til it comes out!

Why no Knebworth, I would accept just a few camera angles for that, and would pay the same price as I will pay for this.

Also, why is this not at Amazon? is it only going to be a queenonline exclusive?

9th August 2011Brian Answers Live At Wembley QuestionQuestion Hello,Is Brian able to clarify how the Friday night show has been prepared?I specifically recall him saying in the past that Friday night was used as a full dress rehearsal for the cameras with the director taking practice shots etc. but that no tape was put in the machine so nothing was captured which was a big regret.ThanksIan- - - - -Brian's reply...Dear Ian. Thanks for writing, re the upcoming new DVD issue of the Queen 1986 Wembley concerts.
From what I can gather, there might be some confusion, here, between the second night at Wembley, and the later concert at Knebworth Park. The only footage we have of Knebworth is from a documentary camera. That is the occasion where an opportunity was entirely missed, to record the feeds from the cameras which were being used to put images up on the 'Idaphores' - the biggest video screens available in the day. But on the first night at Wembley, the cameras were rolling, and although there was little in the way of 'iso' feed recording (from individual cameras), a live mix was being put down by way of a rehearsal for the following night, which was planned to be the big shoot. Not all the cameras were in operation, but Gavin Taylor was choosing shots live 'at the coalface', and it was recorded with all his visual cuts. So although ideally it would be nice to be able to go back and choose some different shots in retrospect, especially from the cameras which were NOT available, we do have a pretty good 'capture' of the event, visually .... easily good enough for a 'bonus' DVD, which is what we are slipping into the new version of the WEMBLEY DVD. Of course the sound from the night was recorded at very decent quality, on multitrack, just like on the second night, and our chaps have done a great restoration job and mix on the whole soundtrack ... so musically the experience is just fine ...well, more than fine, really ! I have a suspicion that folks out there will enjoy being able to relive both Queen nights at Wembley Stadium 1986 on DVD. (Those of you who really get into this will note, if you compare this issue with the handful of songs from the Friday night that were offered as a bonus on the 2003 DVD, that there is a small amount of ISO footage from Wembley 1. I will leave you guys to have fun figuring out exactly which shots were inserted.) Cheers Bri www.brianmay.com

one thing that I find strange...
I assume the crew of people who are responsible for the new sountrack on the 25th anniversary release, are the same who did the 2003 version. does that mean they agree that the 2003 version does not sound very good????

Thing was they never touched the 2003 release. It might have had a remaster? Cant remember? But it was the same mix which was on the 1990 VHS. To my ears it has never sounded very good, the quality of the sound is nice but the mix is dire IMO.
I had to laugh when Brian was moaning about his guitar sounding 'thin' when the Live Aid box set came out, and they couldn't change that because the multi's didn't exist. Yet he happily put Wembley out with that strange treble up to 11, amp's under water sound. I really hope that has been rectified.

Do you know if they remove Freddie's off-key notes? I ask this because I used to have a tape recorded from a live radio broadcast of one of the Wembley's 86 concerts (back then I didn't know there were two concerts). At the end of "I want to break free" there was a tremendous Freddie's off-key note (in the word "God" from the phrase "God knows I want to..."). The funny thing is that it's not there in the CD or DVD. Maybe it belongs to the other show or maybe they just removed it and replaced it with a voice fragment from some other show...?

You want to say that the Friday concert was also broadcast live on the radio?

They should have included a conversation between Brian and Roger during the concert like they did with Montreal....

Full Tokyo 82 is unlikely. It doesn't seem like they have the multi-tracks, and Play The Game and Body Language are unreleaseable (is that even a word?) with Freddie's voice cracks. With the three new bonus tracks from this show, I think we've got all we're ever going to hear from this show officially.
Justin Shirley Smith confirmed they had the Multi-tracks for this ages ago, as confirmed by the new mix of calling all girls on the "Milton Keynes Bowl DVD." But stated they were still trying to track down the missing footage. Don't really want to see this one released though because of freddies voice problems.

I agree with your opinion of brain's guitar sound on Wembley. Sadly the latest 'Experts' post on his website seems to say that we are NOT getting a remixed version now either.

I love the first Wembley night: what a major difference with the second night! The first is much, much better! What could be the reason for this?

To play Wembley even one night put you in the top tier of bands, never mind two nights. The second night was broadcast live on the radio, and the film was rolling with the biggest film crew they ever had. They weren't nervous the first night because they weren't playing every note knowing well that this would be the Queen concert film that people would see through the ages.
Even then, surely they had to know it *the* big one, and Mercury certainly knew by that point that it would be his last tour. So I'd say it boiled down to nerves.
