I Want It All is a good song, but not the best. The problem I have with it is that it was given this 'first single' polish. Would prefer if the sound was a bit more raw. But anyway, the top 80s song for me is probably Under Pressure, followed closely by AOBTD and Radio Ga Ga. I Want It All would probably make the top 10 for me.

I want it all is a great track and without a doubt a Queen classic. The Miracle album was my first 80's Queen album, it was lent to me by a friend on cassette and I couldn't stop playing it. I think it's an awesome album and the track order works well. I love khashoggi's ship, Was It All Worth It and Scandal especially. Great album cover, great tracks and great videos. What's not to like?

No offence intended, but I remember hearing I Want It All and thinking: "oh, my God, Queen now is a sub-Bon Jovi." It bothers me less and less over the years, as they brainwashed us all by making it a constant presence.

If I would choose an 80s song, I would think about the likes of Princes of The Universe, Dragon Attack, Under Pressure  and Was it All Worth It.
Cheers,

When I first heard I Want It All I remember thinking "here we go again - another Queen 'Kitchen Sink Song'." :-)

I first thought that when I heard Somebody To Love. Strangely enough I didn't think it when I first heard Bohemian Rhapsody. :-)

It was the video that surprised me - less fun than usual. :-(

For me it should be in the top 5 Queen ROCK songs from the 80's. I repeat ROCK.
I also think Party and kashoggis ship are good songs

I would say either Play the Game or Save Me. Both classic tracks with a great melody and beautiful harmonies. Worst track from the 80's... Tear it Up.
It's late, but it's time to set me free It's late, yes I know but there's no way it has to be Too late, so let the fire take our bodies this night So late, so let the waters take our guilt in the t

I think between Jazz and AKOM Freddie lost his way.
He was too preoccupied with partying and living life.
His writing skills suffered quite a bit from this lifestyle.
Songs like Don't Stop Me Now, CLTCL, Body Language...are all not very interesting composition wise.

Only a couple of songs from that period are genuinly brilliant.
Good example is It's A Hard Life, although it has been said by the band that they were aware they were making a BoRhap'esque song and therefore probably approached it that way.

It is not until Princess of the Universe that Freddie starts to incorporate his rich musical influences again
(A well composed cinematographic pop song without a base-key.. quite brilliant)

And later even exceeding boundaries with compositions like The Miracle and it's out of this world change at the end of the song.

I guess for me it would be one of the following:
- Princess of the universe
- The Miracle
- Was it all Worth It (Best Guitar riff EVER in a Queen song)

AKOM I agree freddie lost his way, but jazz finds him in great form....every song he wrote on jazz is great......

Sir GH wrote: It's a great track, and maybe in the top 10 of the 80s.  If I had to pick the best 80s track, it'd be either It's A Hard Life or The Miracle.

The Miracle was certainly back to basics for Queen - all the trademark sounds and experimentation are there, balanced with a great pop sensibility.  I will never get why Queen fans don't like Party and Kashoggi's ship, as they are pure classic Queen in every way.  The Miracle remains my favourite 80s Queen album.

I thought the miracle was you're least favorite queen album?...Anyway,  My favorites from the 80's are it's a hard life,  the miracle,  Who want's to live forever?.....and if we're counting The Game  (it is an 80's album afterall),  it's play The game,  sail away sweet sister....some other solid tunes are  Princess of the universe....i want it all.  The 80's had a lot of good queen tracks.....they were brilliant in the 70's,  the 80's wern't brilliant, but they were still a very good band.....I could list a bunch of other  songs i love from the decade.....

You've forgotten about such great track like Hammer To Fall. It is one of the best songs from the 80's, IMO.
"I really feel like being evil tonight."

I love IWIA. I don't know if it is my favourite track from the 80's (probably not), however I do love it. The 80's were nowhere near as good as the 70's, but there were a few songs which were outstanding, and IWIA is one of them. I think it's one of Queen's best hard rock songs, with one of Freddie's most forceful performances, and awesome guitar work from Brian. The vocal interplay between Freddie & Brian was classic Queen. :D

I specifically sparked up the old sound system tonight just to listen to 'Keep Passing the Open Windows'. Understandable why it was never in contention as a single but some great drumming, guitar work, tempo changes and Freddie falsetto. A true hidden gem.

I love that song. :D Apart from the 'love is all you need', I think it's a terrific song. It's certainly my favourite song off The Works. BTW, why is it 'understandable why it was never in contention as a single'?

Don't know really, just not a commercial song. Would have been another 'Spread Your Wings' (ie brilliant, but over the heads of the record buying public) if it was a single..
