Under Pressure
The biggest stress of my life.I played the piano , but was told it would be erased if I did not shut my mouth (like a true china girl!)So I said I would not come knocking on their door, because I thought that they might , if it was a big success, look after me after all, in my oldage. But they have not. Will they have.Ha! Ha! just like our governments who won't pay us anything for our pensions either. So the rebels became the royalty who had criticised the rich and now behave just like the rristocracy they made so much money rebelling against.Oh dear! there's going to be so much trouble and so very soon, i'm happy to be stuck in a hospital with curable cancer! (have to be kidding)Good night all,be back tomorrow with some more recent stuff that's really good and copyright free!Love you all, and thank you so much for your appreciation and friendship.Oh dear! there's going to be so much trouble and so very soon, i'm happy to be stuck in a hospital with curable (my arse) cancer!

Weird post.
I take it he has cancer and is now flinging shots at Queen for not getting royalties for playing piano on Under Pressure - even though he admits he said he wouldn't ask them for money if they left it in.
His comment about "hoping to be looked after" by Queen makes no sense since they did look after him by continually giving him work right until the end. Brian even used him on his solo projects.
Money must be tight and now old grudges are bubbling up.

If it is really him and he did play on it, what's the problem with people knowing? Secondly why would he assume he'd be looked after??? he did a job got paid for it and moved on, he owns and runs mountain studios so as he must have at some point bought the studio from Queen one can assume he had at least at that point a fair amount of cash, if he didnt make it a commercial success and then ran out of money that's not anyone elses fault, we all make our own choices in life. Seems a very strange post to me and to be honest it doesnt sound like him at all so I would be somewhat sceptical of it's origin

I noticed that today and last night he has put a lot of comments on and that itself is unusual because he rarely posts anything

It's a very odd post, that's for sure. It doesn't read well, and on all the footage I've seen and heard of David Richards he has always seemed very eloquent. He has also always seemed loyal and respectful in all things regarding Queen too do I am surprised at this. Perhaps he is ill as stated and his medication has made him 'slightly mad' (pardon the pun).
He always seemed to go down well with the band and worked on nearly all of Roger's solo stuff back to Fun In Space, and Queen from 86 to MIH.
I always found his sound - especially the drums - the best overall match for Queen and I was always disappointed that they moved over to exclusively using Brian's in house team of Justin Shirley-Smith and Kris Fredriksson (who have seriously arsed up a lot of Queen audio in the last few years). It was no coincidence that on the sound of the 46664 concerts Queen sounded a lot better than recent stuff at the time, and David Richards produced/mixed those.
Surely after all the involvement with them over the years, especially Roger's solo stuff and Freddie's last days, they would have been friends as opposed to colleagues? If so, and this is real, it is somewhat disheartening and sad to hear.

He says he was booted from the studio after it turned into a casino. Something isn't adding up here..
Some of his comments sound pretty suicidal to me. The music business really does fuck with a lot of people. Hope he keeps busy and pulls through. He's a brilliant man.

http://www.clashmusic.com/news/the-cribs-confirm-warm-up-show. According to this 4 old month link, Richards was still actively producing. He could have become ill since

I've just found DR's FB page, and it appears he he has cancer of the tongue (he has this posted on his public profile so I'm not giving out anything confidential.) David - if you are reading this, may I wish you every success in your battle; regardless of how you nay currently feel about the band, your place in their legacy, and your large contribution to their work, is not underestimate, and is vastly appreciated, by a large number of fans. Best wishes

Maybe if it's true that he's ill, he may be just disillusioned about it all and lashing out.. I hope he makes a full recovery, I'm sure he will!

he also posted some things about his divorce, seemed quite pissed off.. btw when someone asked what did he think of the new remasters, he replied that havent listened them and that he was upset/angry that "they" didnt send the remasters to him to approve them.. now he has deleted his fb profile.

Oral cancer must be an incredibly difficult form of cancer psychologically. Right there in your face, literally and figuratively, among other factors. Really tough. If I wasn't such a half assed Catholic I'd say some prayers.

He posted some stuff on his (ex) wifes wall but later on in the posts it was clear that he did not know how public facebook is, hope he puts his profile back up but he has issues to deal with i guess

Hmm, this comes at a weird time. I've been thinking about Davd Richards a lot past few months. The reason are mainly the new remasters and that I also do studio engineering full time.
I was listening to remasters and thought about Miracle, Innuendo and MIH and the great sound that these albums have, even BEFORE re-mastering. And they were all done by David Richards. I've seen some interviews of him from the past and he always seemed to be a clean and straight guy, bit intelligent also?
Then came the new two-part documentary "The Days of Our Lives", where David seemed to be totally drunk (or on cocaine) while giving his interview. I was a bit shaken when I saw this and then I really started to think that something is maybe wrong? So all this info about his "decline" and comments on facebook seem to be connected to what I saw...
It's possible that he feels let down. As a producer/engineer you put a lot of energy, emotion and artistic input (if you are an artistic and emotional person) to the record. It could be possible that after Queen there was a huge void in his musical world and maybe he doesn't feel he was treated right after all these years? Maybe it's something about money or royalties or something. Or maybe he is just in pieces after a divorse or smth?...
But anyway, lots of good luck fro you David Richards. You are a hell of a producer and made the best sounding Queen alvums (to my taste) Miracle and MIH. Godspeed, and all the best for you. Hopefully you get well soon and be back in producing wonderful stuff.
Music business really fucks up people....in a lots of different ways..
