Mmmm - the text for the cd says "this complete interview" so it should be the whole thing?
Greg/GT - page 25 contains a reproduction of the Bo Rhapsody blue vinyl single. This has Bohemian Rhapsody written on both sides, not I'm In Love With My Car as the b side. Is this correct and the Limited blue vinyl version had the same track on both sides, or is this another cock up???

Greg/GT - one more question please. The text on p53 states "Tie Your Mother Down concludes another show.......in South America 1981". I can probably find this with a web search, but did they finish with that track rather than the usual WWRY/WATC?? Cheers

Yep. My CD only has 32 minutes on it as well. It's ANOTHER Queen FUCK UP!!!!

Another error - on the Hot Space section there is a word completely missing when the text crosses pages and says abotu the cover art being an influence on later album artwork by Blur.
Hopefully Greg and/or Gary will comment here soon regarding these factual points/questions, as they cannot use the 'it's nothing to do with us' which is often cited as a reason for not commenting. This isn't a lynch mob, but we just would like to know whether the CD is a mistake, and therefore whether we need to take action to return the book or just the CD to Carlton to get a replacement etc....

Yes I too have found all the above in my copy, which is a real shame, however not so much of an issue that I would seriously consider returning it. As it happens I found similar problems with a Rolling Stones bio and a Genesis one some time ago. The CD is a puzzle I must say and more than the other issues is rather a pain, it would appear that the second half has indeed not been included in the final version by mistake.
Overall I still feel the book is a solid body of work and I am more than happy with it, speaking professionally I would also add that despite what others might tell you piutting together something of this nature is an immense task and I defy anyone to say they have never found mistakes in their own work from time to time that should have been spotted...shit happens and say what you like until you've actually done it and spent time working on something of this scale it's bloody easy to point the finger from ones bedroom and flam the project.
I am as disappoint as the next man when i find mistakes like this, but I dont go searching for them which seems to be the pastime of many on here, show me one fan website that doen't have mistakes or mis-quotes on it? they all have at somepoint, but the beauty of teh web is you can amend overnight and then re-publish.
Yet all that said I for one am glad people are prepared to submit their work for public scrutiny mistakes and all, noones perfect!

Here is the full transcript of the interview that SHOULD be on the CD.

I spend a lot of my work time writing projects and reports, preparing statements for people etc... and if my work contained so many obvious errors, then I, and the people responsible for checking my output, would be in trouble.
Believe me, I take no delight in pointing out things and finding mistakes, and these and others errors I have been the first to point out this year (Queen II being listed as 1975 in 4 feet high letters at the exhibition, mastering flaws in Let Me Live, kick drums woes etc..) have all been picked up by my eyes/ears at first point casual viewing/listening, and without careful scrutiny. I just happen to believe that anything that a professional outfit puts out in the public eye (and is charging for) should be properly proof checked, and I simply cannot believe that this is happening with Queen product these days.
Having said all that, this (along with parts of the exhibition) is easily the best 40th anniversary release, even ahead of the CD remasters (which initially going to be the 'big thing' for me).
Incidentally, I read an interview this week with Roger saying that the 'Meddows Taylor' thing was not a hyphenated double surname, but simply a middle name, then I open this book to find it hyphenated in the text! :-) This however is not a 'mistake' in my mind, but just bad luck . (although, once the other parts of the books like press releases, interviews etc.. from the early days are read and no hyphen appears, even this sort of detail is something I, personally, would be proof and fact checking for consistency throughout the same release).

I take your point and largely agree with you, I just felt it was a shame that rather than comment on the fact that it is actually a very interesting and exciting book release you lept straight in with all the problems.
Those responsible must be gutted that after all that the cd has gone out without the full interview however it has happened it's out there and not much can be done in the short term.
I agree that there does seem to be a lot of errors recently but if you follow pretty well any band, film director or artist to this extent I usually find the same sorts of issues crop up, you only have to read other forums from film fans sites to other band sites and you quickly find the fans find missing text, poor edits and wrong picture captions.
Queen has had these types of issues from day one when John Deacon was credited as Deacon John... I bet pretty well every release has something on it that was a mistake it would appear to be human nature.
It just seemed to me that the moment a new product is released the tendancy is to leap on all the problems rather being excited about the fact it's actually a great release. The re-masters are great, certinaly for those people who for the first time have tracks like Soul Brother of CD etc. The Exhibition was really interesting, personnaly I went three times and also noticed the Queen 2 mistake, but for me to get up close and personal to Rogers kits was simply wonderful.
That being said you are right about the fact that proof reading and general checking should be better...but sadly it appears not always to be the case.

My understanding was that that was intentional, in an effort to try to make John seem more interesting (honestly!), but they reverted after the first album. There is one of the facsimile enclosures with the book that backs this up too, with a first album press release also naming his as Deacon John.
Although it was hidden in my post, I DO genuinely think this is the best product we've had for the 40th anniversary.

Really didn't know that, I read years ago it was a mistake, I also heard a taped intro to the band recently somewhere where the announcer even calls him Deacon John... Arh well you live and learn

Is it just my book, or are all the extra items slip sleeves extremely tight in the fact you have difficulty in getting the items out & back in again without damaging the items/slip sleeves themselves.
I wonder how long before somebody tears something in the book. Bad design!!!!

GT - any chance of some help on the queries here please, as you did actually start this discussion about the book? Thanks

QPL are aware of the issue with the CD and plans are afoot to rectify the problem. Details will be released when it's time.

It's a cool book - I'm too scared to break it so haven't investigated full yet! The things to play with are nice. Such a shame the posters are folded - I'd stick them on my wall.
Shame about these niggling problems - it IS human nature to make mistakes of course. Just means I have to get the eventual paperback reissue too :o)
Amazed about the CD mistake though.

"Details to be released when it's time"? I'd say the time to formally at least announce an apology, say that they are aware of the problem, and say that they will announce a solution, is already overdue as 100s, if not 1,000s of books have already been sold and the issues clearly pointed out
